Heritage Motors Radiator
#1

Guys,

I just found out that the HMR radiator we installed in my car has developed a leak...

My mechanic is going to contact them to see if they will stand behind their product; I hope so. I'll let everybody know.

I've reccommended this radiator to others, I hope not to be embarrassed; and that they will honor their workmanship.

Details to follow,

Jason

Hi Jason,

I also had some issues with after market radiators.

How hard do you drive your car around the circuit? Did you ever mix different coolers together?

I found that above mentioned costed me two new radiators. I have now very flexible radiator mounts and will only use one type of coolant as chemical reaction can eat them away.

Could you please let me know what happened with your case?

Zoran,

We didn't mix coolants, so that couldn't have been the issue.

I installed it the Fall of 2004 and put about 6 track days on the car before we put it away for the winter. Since it was a new engine...we had just turbo-charged it to RS specs...I didn't push it very hard at all. Never got over 6,200 RPM in any gear.

In 2005 I put in about 10 track days. I was at Watkins Glen for the Chin Motorsport event, in October I think, and noticed a small amount of fluid one morning. I figured it was overflow since, upon inspection I couldn't find anything else.

This week my mechanic had the pan down, for 2006 prep, and found a sizable amount collected inside the pan. He removed the radiator and had it pressure tested, and found the radiator failure.

I was very happy with the results of the HMR product, and it did a great job of keeping my temps low with the turbo conversion. I hope they honor their work because I'd like to replace it with their product.

Good news...

My mechanic got in touch with HMR today...They have agreed to replace the radiator if they can verify that it's defective.

So, my mechanic is sending it down to Heritage for them to review.

That seems reasonable to me.
