Here's another solution to get those stripped tri-square bolts out. Out of the 9 bolts holding my PP in place, two were already compromised, one so bad that the bit just turned in the hole. I first tried a locking set of pliers on the OD, to no avail. Then I grabbed my smallest pipe wrench, had used it in the past for some tough bolt removals. I thought the bolt head might be so hard that the jaws wouldn't bite into the surface, but that wasn't a problem (could be why they strip so easily). Jaws got a good bite, so it was no problem removing the bolt.

that is exactly why those are "one-use" bolts. makes me crazy when shops reuse those.
good answer though

Yeah, I really don't understand Porsche's choice. We used a lot of socket head cap screws on our machinery. Some so big that the allen wrench was 1" or more. Mostly we used the Unbrako brand. The heads were quite hard and tough. Never heard of any of them stripping.
