Quote:Bill,
Thanks for all the photos. I really enjoyed those.
What got you interested in buying the 968?
The 968 was almost a chance encounter. I'd always liked the transaxle cars having a couple 931's in the early 80's then an '84 and '87 944S (really liked that one but a friend talked me into selling it to him, he still has it). They're just a great usable sportscar/mini GT, unlike 911's from the era the AC works, handle great with no apprehensions, are stable/comfortable at speed, and relatively economical as Porsche's go.
In addition to restoring/racing Porsches I was a wholesaler but only out of one dealership, Brumos Porsche/Mercedes/Lexus, I had no interest in the 'normal' car business, and almost every day I'd get used MB's that were traded. Seldom do Porsches get traded in by their owners but the 968 was one that did, on a new Boxster. At the time Boxsters were having some teething issues and the techs were fed up with them, I remember the service manager saying how lucky I was to get it and couldn't believe someone traded it.
I knew it was a keeper and after driving it a bit stashed it away but for longer than anticipated. Anyway, 4 or 5 years ago I got it out, put in a new fuel pump and a few other odds and ends and have been driving on occasion.
When I got it out I asked dlearl if he thought it would clean up, he went heck yeah : )
I'm just thankful I held on to it after all these years and finding this forum has re-energized the interest in it, it's been sitting again for awhile but that should change in the not too distant future.
