Hello from Denver, Colorado.
A few months ago I bought a 1992 968 Cabriolet. Since then I replaced the rear window, clutch, and brakes. And have had a few other things worked on. It is black with brown interior and has a 6 speed. I still need to get a couple of small (hail size) dents fixed and the hood & rear deck painted. It currently has snow/ice tires on it. I am going to get new summer tires to put on the larger rims I have so I don't have to mount & balance them at the change of seasons. It is my daily driver. It has about 87K miles on it.
I also currently own a 924S. It was my first Porsche. It currently has about 123K miles on it. It needs the passenger side door & head light cover repainted & the driver’s left side bolster replaced. It is a great car. It was my daily driver. It was a kick driving in winter snow, spring rain, summer warmth & Aspen trees color change. I kept 2 sets of tires, one for summer & one for winter.
I bought the 968 because it was the last model in the series of the front water cooled engine and rear wheel drive car. The series has great weight distribution. And the handling is the best. Many may cringe at the next statement. The handling is great even in the snow. I think if you buy a car because of its drivability, you miss half the fun if you don’t drive it in the snow and rain.
The 924S drives great. One of my favorites is mountain passes, during any season. I plan to drive my 968 across several passes in all seasons during the years to come. It does have a great heater. And in the summer with the top down…
The next best I have ever driven is an ’81 RX7 that I drove for 14 years. I drove It over passes with snow higher than the bottom of the car, pushing snow and without chains and passing cars along the way.
I currently own:
’87 924S
’87 944S
’87 944
’92 968
2003 Mustang Cobra
The two 944’s need work before I can drive them. But the 968 was my first priority.
