Hello from Big D, TX.
#1

I've had my Adventurine Green 1994 968 coupe for over 11 years now and use it as my daily driver. It has 128K miles and is still going strong. I've thought of buying a commuter car with an automatic transmission, but you can do a lot of Porsche repairs for $15K. Besides, there really is no substitute. A long time ago, I kept track of www..net but not much for years; it seemed to go stagnant as the originator lost interest. Then I met another 968 owner in a parking lot last week; he told me about this website and here I am, on the last day of the old year. Truthfully, I'm not much of a joiner, but we'll see how it goes. We all own rare and exceptional cars and it's probably a good idea to keep connected. Happy motoring!

Welcome @mjgoetz! The North Texas area 968ers have been talking about meeting up with other North Texas and Oklahoma 968ers in 2012, maybe for a trip to Oklahoma Foreign. You interested?

@mjgoetz - Welcome to the forum! There is a lot of very useful information to hep you enjoy and maintain your 968, not to mention the occasional banter for entertainment. I am in Dallas as well and wonder if your 968 was one I recently saw in Snider Plaza recently. We have several 968s in the area and I would like to see all of us get together for an event. Also, if you aren't already a member of PCA, you should join which automatically enrolls you in the Maverick Region of PCA. It's a very active and fun group with events for all interests.

I do like the idea of having a meeting at Oklahoma Foreign Salvage sometime in 2012.

Thanks for all the friendly replies. I used to belong to the PCA when I lived in Vancouver, WA, but circumstances forced me to drop out. It might be time to rejoin that too. Yes, I'd be interested in a road trip to OK or anywhere else, since I've lived in Dallas for 5 months and don't know anything about the area, except how to get to work. I may have been to the Snider Plaza, but I don't honestly know where that is. If the 968 you saw had AK licence plates, it was mine. Coincidentally enough, I bought my 968 in Tulsa, OK from a guy who also had a 951.

Yes, wmuldowney that was me you talked to at the Chinese buffet; you're the reason I signed up here. I must be colour-blind. I remarked on your car's automatic transmission, but it looked black to me.

Cool, glad you found us. I work in Dallas, right down the street from that buffet. If you ever get some free time, PM me or anyone else in DFW if you guys want to get together. I'm so ready for the road trip to OK!

Maverick Region PCA is celebrating its 50th year in 2012 so what a great time to join. Go look at mav.pca.org and you can learn more about the club. You must be a member of PCA at a cost of $49 per year but the quality of Panorama Magazine and Slipstream Magazine more than make up for that.

We have every sort of activity; Concours, Tech Sessions,Drivers Education, AutoCross, Time Trial, Club Racing, Happy Hours, Lunches, Sunday Drives (spirited). Not trying to oversell, but it's a lot better venue to show off your rare Porsche than the local Cars and Coffee event.
