Hello Everyone!

I live in Seattle WA, and don't have a 968 as of yet.

I'm interesting in purchasing a 968 or a 951, and haven't decided between the two, and am here to learn as much as I can about the benefits/drawbacks of the 968.

Thanks, looking forward to being a part of the community.

Every car has it's 'thing' to be aware of before buying. My e36 was the cooling system. Between plastic blades on the water pump, plastic thermostat housing, and plastic fitting for the hoses on the radiator, something was guaranteed to fail.

My main goal is to figure out what those things for the 968 are, and factor in cost of maintaining a 15 year old car is on top of the car it's self. I was originally going to get an e36 m3. But since I no longer need a car for daily transportation to work, I figured now would be a great time to get into something a little more 'fun'. Just need to figure out if i can afford it

do some reading here - regardless of how many cars are out there for sale for less, or what anybody says about them, i think you will find that the reality is that you are looking at about $20k for a hardtop and $25k for a ragtop, by the time you get the car sorted out and up to snuff - then plan on parking $1k a year minimum for this that and the other that fails due to age - these cars are seeing a lot of things wear out, purely due to age - we all love the cars, but they are showing their age

some typical age related things we see failing are:

head gaskets
suspension bushings
hoses
hydraulics components
shocks
struts

good luck
