Hello ,
I have been asked to provide an introduction of myself so i have so i have ..
Well my name is twincamsham- i am a Black late 1993 Porsche 968 sport that my owner bought in the UK last week and then drove at break neck speed back to France where i now live.
My owner is cotemplating messing with me and iv heard him talk about big red brakes all round, a respray as im a little tatty... shiver and hes also mentioned a supercharger/turbocharger, Weitec Coilovers and 18" BBS rims he also thinks that i need my cams and vario cam system checked but you wouldnt think he was that concerned the way he had me redlined in 6th at 150 + mph on an empty autoroute between paris and Orleans sunday night. oh well he will live and learn if my valves collide, thankfully we got away with it but there is slight ticking in my top end.
My owner is an Irishman which would explain the plain irresponsibility of driving me like that after 16 quiet years. "to clean out the cobwebs and the carbon he said" reckons that "he does it to every car he buys to see what breaks as its a good place to start fixing" he also said hes seen it written all over magazines that i am a genuine "160" mph car and i don't think he believed it- he does now ") wink.
i must say i quietly enjoyed the workout.. but my sun roof didnt as one of the plastic gears seems to have lost teeth and one side decided to alarmingly pop up and reckless speed due to the cabon pressure and we nearly lost our roof.. it was like opening an emergency door on a Ryanair 737.
So now i sit outside the house with my orange indicators, standard wheels with lacquer peeling , stone chipped paintwork , standard high suspension, but i am clean and straight and 'ripe for modification' so he says.
I noticed he has ordered 4 axle stands off Ebay and he said that 'those horrible wheels will be the first to go' so i expect to be ripped apart in a shed any day now. hes also found corrosion around my jacking points and seen that all the rubber seals on my side skirts have shrunk away beyond belief so he will no doubt be in underneath slobbering choc full off Belgian Beer most given sundays. i dread the thought of the work quality but sometimes he does well..
Hes also started removing my interior piece by peace and handwashing each panel back to my original cream leathar as i was slighlty brown,
My reason to be on porsche 968 forums is that i fear he will get way in over his head many times and that we will need to resort back here for technical help and advise and no doubt buy junk parts from other like minded abusers of cars like me.
He is a qualified fitter and Auto electrician but at this stage in the relationship i do not trust him one bit..
Hes been raving on about M030 optioned spindles and hubs as "they will take the big reds straight on" personally i think my current brakes are fine but hes complained that there more powerful on his bicycle
Hes spotted that all the bolts and nut heads for my bushings and basically everything underneath have corrosion and has cursed buying a car in west UK where winters are colder and more salt on the road.
In fact he has not said anything very positive about me at all, I fear i will be condemned to a garage for many months to come....
He reckons my orange indicators are horrible and has a plan to even delete my rear spoiler and just leave the subtle lip underneath,He reckons they are both "so 1980s" and unnecessairy in 2010.
I ask you where are the purists? such a young upstart should never have bought a car like me in the first place, an old subaru impreza or something jap with a fiberglass body kit and graphics would have suited this guy better. hs
Good luck to other cars i hope you are not abused in the same way and get to enjoy your retirement less painfully....
