New Member Kirkland WA (Seattle)

Hi, and greetings from the great NW where we continue a streak of fabulous weather. I am a long time Porsche fan, having had a 79 911SC (with 3.2 with Webers), a 70 911E (SOVREN vintage racer), two 914-6s (real ones), and currently a 1999 996 Carrera 4 (aero) and 2006 Cayenne. I also have a 72 Karmann Ghia convertible, and an 87 Westfalia. My son races cadet karts, and for fun I take out my 125cc Leopard TAG Italkart and pound around PSGKA with him. The Westy is going to have to go (I have another motorhome) and the space will most likely be filled with a 968 (coupe) I love the look of them, and as the definitive version of the front/watercooled engines, I feel I need to own one to have covered all the various Porsche eras. There always seems to be one on Craigslist either here or in Portland. I'll keep you posed on my progress.

Oh no! At first I was so happy to see another member with both a 968 and a Vanagon -- My other car is an '89 Syncro.

Don't do it, sell the Cayenne (one of the Syncro's grandchildren) -- Keep the Westy!!! How can you live in Kirkland without a Vanagon!!!!

PS: I've done a lot of work up there, wireless companies, most recently on Carillon Point.

Welcome and good luck finding the right 968!

Welcome and good luck in finding your 968. If you find one in Portland and want a member to look it over with you, let me know. Been through a lot of the mechanicals in the past year, so have some feel for under the hood issues.

Hi Tony, as a fellow SOVREN racer I highly recommend the 968 experience. I race a Royale RP3A formula ford, so I guess we haven't raced together. I've owned my 968 about 6 years, and I have enjoyed it a lot. But as you know we move on with cars and I am considering selling my car - '93 coupe, 6-speed, LSD, with a few upgrades for handling and recent service (head gasket and belts). Drop me an email or give me a call sometime and we can talk racing, Porches, etc. I'm in Moscow, ID. sguy2@yahoo.com, 208-669-0565. I'm traveling to meetings the next two weeks, but could correspond.

Cheers,
