I became yet another victim of the separating HCV at Road Atlanta a few weeks ago. Fortunately it was a fairly uneventful failure--a bad leak rather than a coolant explosion--and I limped back to the pits. Missed my next track session while I replaced the 2-yr old broken one with the who-knows-how-old used spare, which held up fine.
Here is my new HCV and my new spare, reinforced at the seam with JB Weld. Don't know that this will help, but the broken one that I glued as a trial held up to ten or twelve pretty good whacks with a 3-lb sledge before coming apart. That one I didn't even clean; these were new and I roughened up the surface before applying the JB Weld.
