Heated Seats
#1

Hi All,

I've recently noticed that my heated seats lack the intensity they once had.  I rarely cranked them up to full power in the past because they were uncomfortably hot.  Now, they seem barely warm, even at full power.

I've checked the switches and the on/off function works properly.  I don't have to hold them on as described by others with switch problems.  The pot's also seem to work with the lowest setting feeling like they're barely on, to the high setting feeling "luke warm" at best.  I find it strange that both seats would suffer the same fate.

Does anyone have a schematic for the heated seats? I've got a '92, so I've got the early seats.  I can't seem to find the heated seat schematic from Porsche, and I feel like I've searched the far corners of the interwebz looking for it.

Schematic's, experiences, and suggestions welcomed!

Thanks,

Trent

First thing with electrical issues in 968's, check grounds. I don't have heated seats, so I have no idea where they ground, but that would be first on my checklist.

Thanks, MCL968.  The grounds seem fine.  Hopefully someone has the schematic so I can work through it methodically.

I have looked through all the manuals I have and the heated seats are not mentioned in any of the diagrams,

must have been a supplement or in the 944 manual

Thanks, Waylander! I appreciate the effort. I'll try searching for both of those suggestions.

I found the supplementary seat PET for anyone who's interested. At 700+ pages I see why it was made a standalone. Search with the keyword "heated" to narrow down the options for heated seats. Other variations of the word heat yield too many results.

Unfortunately, the file size is beyond the upload restrictions of the forum. Here's the link:

Thanks for your help , Waylander. I ended up opening both sides up and reconditioning all the connections I could find. It seems to have resolved the issue for now. I'm not sure which connection was the offender, but my buns are warm again. Thanks again!

The weather here is equivalent to Seattle. It's not freezing, but definitely cool in the winter. Once you're used to heated seats, brisk mornings seems insufferable without them. It's definitely a first world problem!

roflmao  - "your in 991 mode now"  i presume you meant to say "you are", because otherwise it doesn't make sense.

but yeah - i guess that's accurate - cleaner - more precise

anyway - back on topic - the wiring diagram for the seat heaters is on sheet 3 of the 968 workshop manual wiring diagrams
