Options for wiper arms?
#1

So I saw Flash mention he had 968 Turbo S wiper arms on his car I think?

Did I read that right, is this something I can see?  Does it lower the arms a bit, always bothered me how far up they sit on the car.

I am talking the front arms, not sure about the rear ones.

you read it right.  they are unobtainium, and yes, they sit exactly the same as the regular ones.  if anything, they sit a bit higher, due to the wing

it cracks me up when people complain about the height of the arms.  i don't even notice mine, but i'm looking 1/4 mile down the road, and not at my hood.

What is the real difference then?  Do they sit higher?

there is a wing built into them that grabs air and creates downforce, keeping the wipers on the windshield at high speed.

as for sitting higher, i'll compare them to the ones on the white car today

There is a pretty decent selection of different blade brands and styles you can buy at most large auto stores which will give the appearance of a lower profile wiper set up. Only an optical illusion but since you can't lower the arms or buy different ones, it's the next best thing. I think I have Bosch blades on my six speed ( no idea what model, it was only displayed on the box..) and I really like the sleek look of those . I don't remember what they cost exactly but I know they weren't cheap ..I want to say approx $ 70 for the pair ( they are not the same size, one of them is about 1" longer than the other IIRC ) .

yeah - i have some anco flexible ones on the white car that sit pretty low.  it doesn't change the arm itself, but it reduces the profile of the rest.

frankly, this one just doesn't hit my radar.  like i said, i don't spend any time looking at anything that close to me when i look out the windshield.  i don't even look at the car in front of me.  i'm looking way past that.

True, while I drive the car I never notice the wipers ..at all ! And since I don't drive the car in the rain ( unless it's a surprise storm that catches me ) the wipers are never engaged, so it's all about aesthetics when the car is sitting still , lol.

yeah - i guess.  just not something i ever paid attention to.  for the sake of sanity, i learned to pretty much ignore wipers way back when i was driving the mgb.
