[quote name='Chris Vais' date='Sep 26 2006, 11:37 AM']I listen to classic rock and roll ala "KFOG" 104.5 FM. I am also a real fan of DOO WOP rock and roll.
The most care free time in my life was the late 50's early 60's. By the time I graduated from high school, Viet Nam and the prospect of military service, and collage all sort of took over. As I have gotten older, the music from that time, takes me back.
70's music, Viet Nam era brings back too many memories of friends lost, can't listen to it.
Try The Ventures, best instrumental rock and roll group, ever.

The motor is a symphony of sorts, and that is most enjoyable to hear.
I often shut the stereo down, just so I can hear what is going on down there.
Too many commercials on radio, except satellite.
After that, here are a few things that I have gotten into:
Rock/Pop
Rush, "Moving Pictures". Entire album hits hard, and Red Barchetta can really do the trick: "Sunlight on chrome, the blur of the landscape, every nerve aware..."
Peter Gabriel, "So"
P.O.D., "Satellite"
(Real throwbacks to the 80's: Saga, Zebra, and what about Ratt?)
James Taylor, Allison Krauss, Gavin DeGaw, too many others to mention.
Jazz
Lee Morgan, "Best Of" (be-bop, jazz trumpet)
Miles Davis, "Kind of Blue" (you don't have to have the blues to like this one)
Classical
Beethoven 4, 5, 6, 9 (too many quiet sections can get problematic though)
Shostakovich 4, 5, 10. Great musical portrait of Joseph Stalin in #10.
Mahler 4, 5
Holst, Planets. Mars, The Bringer of War, is always good to get the blood flowing.
To be continued...
