Gripes

You can always come down here - Brevard County is actually one of the top spots in the country for body dumping. If that doesn't do it, you can always hop the fence at one of the gator farms here.

The latest trend: responding to every question that solicits an affirmative reply with a resounding " - Absolutely ! ".

[/quote]

This is simply a new "pop" way of saying "fur sure" or "totally" which are now passe ways of simply saying "yes". Probably 100 years ago the saying was "indeed", or perhaps more recently "and how", or like some US states "you betcha" -- all are simply affirmatives. I think your observation about "absolutely" is the "bee's knees" and and the "cat's meow" and I can only respond with "damn straight" "all righty" "for reals" "right on" "roger" "true dat" and yes.

It bugs me too. Reminds me of some family members who endlessly speak in "pop" sayings. It drives me nuts, and is so boring, there is never an original thought with any of them, it is almost like they listen to radio, sitcoms, or people magazine and simply repeat whatever they think is "currently cool". It must be an awful way to live, to me "cool" is just being yourself.

Back to old folks related gripes ; while at the airport check in security today , and in the longest line of people I have ever seen ( looked like the Disneyland rides lines ) a nice elderly couple right in front of me , both with shoes and belts and watches on , and her adorned by a ton of jewelry managed to hold up the friggin' line for probably a good five minutes ( which seems like an eternity when you have a couple of hundred folks behind you with little time to spare until their flights board..) apparently clueless to the security rules and regulations. Perhaps they travel seldom and not in tune with what's expected, but jeeezus, look at everyone around you taking off their shoes and accessories, listen to the continuous announcements and watch the video monitor while you're in line ..but noooo, they just show up at the security portal as if they were strolling on a Sunday in the park.. She had to go back and fourth through that portal four times, each time removing one more piece of whatnot from her pockets ..

ya know - if they made you go to the back of the line when you did that, it would probably solve the problem.

of course (new old gripe) there would still be the idiots who insist on dragging their luggage onto the plane, and it often doesn't fit. instead, they hold everyone up while they try to cram it in there, instead of letting people go by. for that matter, why the hell don't the airlines board the plane from the rear? sure, first class would have to walk through the plane, but that would solve a lot of the overhead luggage issues too. sooner or later they will just ban overhead carryon altogether, and it either fits under the seat in front of you, or it gets checked. i can't wait. actually, a lot of smaller planes already do that.

Totally agree with boarding the plane starting with the back rows. I never understood the rationale of doing just the opposite !

I've always thought the baggage charge strategy should be reversed - the airlines should charge for carry-on bags, but not for checked ones.

yeah - either board the back rows first, filling the plane from back to front, or use the back door, and board the front of the plane first. either way, don't have passengers walking down past other passengers.

i agree about the baggage charges. you should have to pay a premium to carry crap on board, but be able to check for free (within limits of course). we pay for more leg room, bigger seats, better meals, yada yada. why not overhead storage space?

Why can't the cell phone companies make a phone that if it is bouncing or moving at a certain spped it would not allow texting. Then anyone inside a car would not be able to use it.

I love sitting in first class with my Harley shirt on - tattoos showing and a dew rag on my head watching everyone do the poverty walk to the back of the plane - lol

I hate flying. Want a gripe - get rid of the friggin' TSA!

william - they can. any phone with a gps can do that. they just won't until the public demands it.

fatboy - certainly they can do better than they are doing. i'm all for screening, but since almost every single plane has at least 100 weapons on board, as well as an explosive device, and all are easily accessible, i don't see the point of denying me my fingernail clippers.

True, someone could kill you with a pen or a spike heel from a woman's stiletto.

As far as car cell phones go - All they have to do is put a Faraday screen in the roof -

And...If they don't want you texting, why are they making your email accessible in your car?

PS...It still says texting is spelled wrong - lol Maybe I need to add it to my dictionary?

must be your browser. mine says texting is spelled correctly.

re: weapons on the plane, not what i was thinking. not common knowledge, but there are some designed in items that are easily used as very effective weapons, and at least one that is a very nice explosive device. i don't want to go into any more detail than that, lest i have the fbi dropping by for coffee.
