Gripes
#21

i actually have to disagree about increased efficiency. i find that people actually get a lot less done, as a direct result of the distractions. if they would just sit down and do the work uninterrupted by the phone, the texts, and the emails, things would be better. is there better information access? sure. is that good? not so sure. can you get a message to somebody and not have to wait? sure. is that necessary? not so sure.

i think it's a mixed bag of nuts, and frankly i have no issue not using it. i plan better so i don't have to have that leash. i think we have gotten lazy and now allow too many people to wing it and skate by.

i liked things a lot better before cell phones and the internet. you actually spoke to and met with people.

I have too many gripes to mention, but the one at the top of the list is >>>>

PAYING STATE SALES TAX ON A USED CAR! !@$T!

For instance, the car I just bought (sorry to mention that) was taxed when new, in New Jersey in 2002. Once again, the "Garden State" is reaching into my wallet, taxing the purchase, and providing absolutely ZERO service in exchange for it. And they get two bites at the apple (which is my a$$) while I once again indicate the actual purchase price on the title. Am I nuts to hate this?

And I agree with Flash about cell and smart phones - I am extremely happy when I "can't find" my phone.

Ha Ha Rap! You guys are a scream!

I too hate cell phones and use mine within appropriate limits. My kids better not pull'em out at a meal or when we're talking!!...Not that they live with me any more, but they love my cooking! As for old folks on line at a check-out--give-em a break! They don't necessarily have other communications during the day! Love old folks. Have done lots of pet therapy with my min pin at Alzheimer's facility-when the brain is gone it's gone. So-chill-in my view, speak up when people are being obnoxious and inconsiderate (I do) but give the lonely old folks a break at check out.

totally agree about sales tax on a used car, as the laws now stand. that item was already taxed. there are laws about double taxation. that being said, if it applied to all used items, and all transactions, i would be fine. but then we wouldn't need an income tax, and what would all those irs people, accountants, and tax lawyers do?

as for old folks, i'm not a fan of them. not going to be one. as soon as i can't fend for myself, or the body starts failing on me, i'm done. of course everybody says they don't want to live to be 100, but then you talk to the guy who is 99.................

I hate it when people decide to stop and "Chat" with the postal clerk while making a transaction - they turn a 30 second encounter into a 10 minute conversation about grandkids, dogs and bunions - arrrghhhh! Get out of the way feeb!!

lol - i pay somebody to go to the post office. it really makes me nutty when i have to go there. if i can't send it any other way, it's still cheaper for me to pay somebody, than to spend my time. my lowest rate for me to spend any of my own time on anything is $3 a minute, and that doesn't factor in the wine needed to recover from the frustration. as i said, the one thing i've learned over the years is that you don't get more time. don't spend any of it on dumb stuff like that. pay somebody else.

i'm just about to start having my groceries delivered, so that i don't have to deal with that either. just haven't had the time to look at what i can have sent and what i can't.

Basically it is safest to say I just hate people. I watch the Discovery Channel's show "Life After People" and just sigh and say, "Wouldn't that be nice."

When I start complaining about some thing my wife says, "when you are grand exhausted ruler of the universe, I know you will fix that."

"grand exhausted" - funny - i guess a grand exalted ruler would be pretty exhausted - never thought about it. too busy acknowledging the wife as ruler

Bullet ?! Whassammatter with you ?! Our beloved 968s can serve as the ideal vehicle ( ahem, pun intended ) to a peaceful demise ; a bottle of L. XIII cognac, a few sleeping pills, recline those seats for a comfy sleeping position, open the windows, close the garage door, turn the engine on and by morning you'll no longer be a burden to anyone :-). And they won't have to clean up the mess a .45 would leave..

As for double taxation, how about the tax on inheritance ?! What possible justification can there be for the government taking away a hefty chunk out of something one leaves for their children when that money has already been taxed ? Not an issue with taxing the capital gains on the money you leave, but not on the principal sums - pure and simple it's double taxation. And don't say, " this is a hand out to the children who have not worked to earn it so I don't feel bad for them " - remember who is collecting those taxes and they have done absolutely nothing to add value and provide any service which would justify robbing families twice.

frankly i don't feel that you should be able to leave anything. the government should get it all. just think about how much better we could all live, if we planned on having nothing at the end. we would spend it rather than lose it. our kids would likely be more self sufficient too.

I like your idea of having others do your chores. I don't like the idea of my money going to some academic activist who has never worked a day in his life deciding how to take and spend my money! Perhaps giving it to a fav charity is ok, though not without risk. But giving it to the govt. How about we all just get taxed at 90 percent now?

lol - that's why i said that we should spend it now. only if we were dumb enough to have anything left, would it then go to the government.

i'm all for being taxed 90%, as long as it means i don't have to pay for health care, education, yada yada. you know. like other civilized countries.

Yea that was a funny typo - It was supposed to be exulted - lol but I almost like the typo better -

Maybe instead of spell check, you can invent one that types what I mean instead of what I say

Melva and I currently plan on dying 6 minutes apart and $0.10 in debt. I have a vision of removing my last depends to walk into the ocean, never to be seen again.
