get ready to pay more for less

follow up to Jay's post , here's another article on what " middle class " is broken down by State ,  :  http://finance.yahoo.com/news/much-earn-...00901.html

interesting highlight excerpt :  "Middle class" is a tricky concept. Depending on where you live, you can feel middle class earning as much as $250,000 a year — about five times the US median income of $52,250 from the same time period."

Going out on a limb here, but I predict a repeat of the Clinton vs. Bush scenario . An Hilary will probably win, because to this day Bill still has one of the highest popularity ratings of any former presidents , so folks are going to think they're getting two for one in the White House with Bill having a considerable influence on her and that's a tough combination to run against . He'll be the de facto VP no matter who she chooses as a running mate.

p.s. and the reason I think Bush will be the GOP nominee is because everyone else running is a certifiable nutcase so he's going to appear " normal " and the most viable candidate, by comparison..

If US citizens vote Hillary into the Oval Office, then the doomsayers that have been predicting an end to the "American age" will be right. She has NOTHING (on her own merit)  that would qualify her for the office.

Please come down and vote. A nice getaway to Chicago on voting day would help.

ya know, i didn't think we could do worse than reagan, who put us in a huge hole over the defense spending (on which i made a bundle) and then we had dubya, who put us in an even larger hole for the same reasons.  while i'm not a hillary fan, how bad can it be?  at least she's firmly behind the things that make sense (a woman's right to choose, public health care, and cutting defense).  it will be interesting to see what other democratic party candidates they roll out as cannon fodder.

Wow, Carly Fiorina was always considered to be dillusional ( not to mention incompetent ) by pretty much everyone with whom she worked in her dubiously "illustrious" career but now she aspires to the presidency of the country ?!! Talk about delusional. Sheesh, and we're still a year and a half before the election, I wonder how many other bizarre candidates both parties will come up with from the bottom of the barrel scrapings ..

Btw, check out this article : http://www.salon.com/2015/04/19/marco_ru...ng_clowns/

I take back what I said about any other candidates, the clown car just pulled up and out steps Donald Trump, the circus MC.  And to add more humor to the whole thing ( as if The Donald by himself is insufficient material.. ) he stated that Oprah as a VP running mate would probably be a good choice if she is interested.   Now I just can't wait for those  Donnie and Opie ( not to be confused with Ron Howard, he's not running...yet ! ) bumper stickers !

Wow, what the hell just happened this week ?! No lame duck president in history has had everything go his way as Obama has this week; rulings all in favor of his trade initiative , his health care plan, same gender marriage rights which he strongly supported ( odd he would take that position given that the black, religious society to which he admittedly belongs, is strongly opposed to the idea..) and one other key issue which eludes me right now, but ..wow !

How about rent control in NYC? Price controls and entitlements only work for those that receive them. The rest of us just marvel that our representative govt thinks this is a good idea. Socialism only works until the money runs out!

I don't know about rent control in NYC , but in spite of how envious we may be of those lucky enough to live under rent control in San Francisco, that is the ONLY protection keeping long term residents who have lived there for twenty or thirty or forty years and are an integral part of the fabric and character of the city, from being thrown out of their homes with no place to go so they can be only replaced by " kids " from the Googles and Facebooks and Netflix of this world with stock options which enable them to effortlessly shell out $ 5,000 / mo for a studio, or $ 7,000 / mo for a 1br apartment , or foreign nationals from China or Russia with $$ millions at their disposal to gobble up condos and homes and rent them out to the aforementioned " Googlelites " for obscene amounts of money . Sorry, but that's where capitalism can suck big time !

Hillary will be the death of this country. The Clintons are as corrupt as they come. They ran guns in the iran contra mess and have been hiding bodies ever since.

They are morally bankrupt and I will never vote for them. They are ugly people and their ugliness comes from deep within.

They could never say anything that would ever justify a $400K speaking fee.

You can have your opinon, but there is mine. At least Tump won't have anyone to thank for being there if he wins. We will see how the Republican party shakes out, but most are not worth voting for.

I am tired of career politicians milking this county and putting our money in their pocket.

Maybe this will be the post that gets me kicked of the site.

Oh well.

roflmao - i'm not a big hillary fan, but bill clinton was by far the best president we have had in modern history.  the economy was the best in decades.  social progress was huge.  i'd love to see him as the running mate.  maybe we could do the "roosevelt thing" and let him run again

trump is a blithering idiot windbag.  but i think everybody sees that.

I think Hillary will have a hard time serving as President if she is locked up at Leavenworth. I don't care what your political leanings are, the e-mail server scandal is not subterfuge. If any one here sent or received e-mail with the Classified designations that were on Hillary's servers they would be, at a minimum , fired immediately from whatever position they held and subject to strong fines and imprisonment. Sandy Berger paid a $50,000 fine, served 2 years probation, did 100 hours of community service and was stripped of his security clearance for 3 years. All this for removing 2 documents from the national archives (which he returned, along with his notes). Hillary's flagrant abuse of power and failing to secure hundreds, if not thousands, of classified documents should disqualify her from ever holding any type of clearance in the future. That would preclude her ability to serve as President.

Not disagreeing with what Jay posted, but I have to wonder how many of the other candidates have at least comparable if not even worse incidents in their past where abuse of power, or flagrant violations of the law, or ethics breaches, or other similar conduct , which should compel their disqualification ? I'm sure a lot of that will be dug up and surface as the presidential campaign progresses , but I have a feeling those without skeletons in the closet will be in the minority..if any at all.

Not a single one of them ever served as Secretary of State. That position has access to incredible amounts of intelligence which puts real lives in jeopardy, far more than just about any senator or governor (Intelligence committee excepted).

I am absolutely precluded from ever using my personal e-mail to conduct business of any kind on behalf of my company, it is an offense for which I could be immediately dismissed. I do not handle classified materials on a regular basis, but even materials considered SBU (Sensitive but unclassified) or FOUO (For Official Use Only) are stored and handled carefully. Classified documents are never handled through e-mail.

Maybe if the US government felt the same way as Jay does about handling documents, Wikileaks wouldn't have them all.
