I do agree that, with the longer ratio in the box, I'll have to refind the rpm's on which I launch the fastest, but once I found that rpm my 0-60 will be faster then the shorter ratio .... so let's agree that we don't agree <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/wink.png" class="smilie" alt="" />

i think you will find that it will not be quicker 0-60. every 1/4 mile guy knows this. it's basic mechanical advantage physics. if you want faster 0-60, you install lower gears. it is very common to install a 4.56 or something like that to get better launch. i've seen 5.10s and stuff too in some of the crazier cars. back when i was doing 1/4 mile stuff, 4.11 was always a good set for most cars. if it revved high enough, we would run something in the 4.55 or 4.56 area. it was good for a full half second off 0-60 on pretty much any car from an mgb to a mustang, and a full second off the 1/4 mile time



the fact that yours is turbocharged doesn't help launch either. that just makes it even harder to find the "magic spot" due to the spikier nature of the torque curve.



but go out and get some times recorded and have fun.

The promised 31:9 final drive turned out to be a standard 34:9 so I did not buy that one. Have been on the phone with Porsche Motorsport and they could not find partnumbers of the Turbo S gearbox. Strange, since they have build them themselves in 1993. Now in contact with Porsche works to find out the partnumber of the 31:9 final drive.



Received a quote from Albins for the 31:9 R&P. Au$ 3445 a piece when ordering 5. Anyone of you guys interested to join me ?

lol - too late - already had new super bearings installed, torque tube assembly powder coated, and all installed



i think jager makes them already anyway, though i did not find that out until i was already done. no worries though. this will be better

Bob, what are these "super bearings". Are they better quality deep groove bearings or something totally different? And please don't just respond "Yes something totally different"!

Flash do you think the torque tube bearing issue is something that we're all going to face at a certain point, like the starter cable problem on another thread? What are some of the signs of TT bearing failure and/or what age/mileage would be a good time to start thinking about getting a TT rebuild?



(just what I need - another item on the never-ending to-do list!)
