gas milage curious
#21

No problem, Kim, and no offense intended. Your data reminded me of a high level summary of mine, which you almost tempted me to post a piece of. But, some things really are better kept private.

oh heck no - no offense at all - i just noticed the incorrect math, if you were trying to compare to us - big difference between imperial and US gallons - if it was a joke, i just missed it, and i'll have to go and get a humour booster
I do apologise for sending the detailed data. Others seemed to find amusement in the fact that people kept such records. I knew about 0.003 seconds after I sent it that there would be someone who didn't share the wonder of the detail. I can, unfortunately, be prodded into being inebriated with the exuberance of my own verbosity.
don't apologize - this *is* a nuthouse after all. . . I for one admire your thoroughness.

I thought of doing the exact same thing but have been a bit lazy on that account. So Anchorman and Kim, my unqualified, undeviating respect

Ether, if you want to get started on recordkeeping before you get too far into ownership, I'm sure someone (maybe even me) would be glad to provide the simple little spreadsheet I use.

yeah thanks, i should start that. For now i think I'll just use a small notepad and paper log.

So far I've put ~4K on the car since Feb. . . damn! And it's not even a daily driver! I looooove this car!

I clipped 30 mpg highway on the trip home from purchase site a couple of years ago. This was cruise-control-induced 75-85 mph the entire way, saving stops for gas/coffee/bathroom.

Have not quite seen it since.

19 - 21 mpg driving around town now.

Can count on about 7-9 mpg at the track in "two speed" mode. Two speed = WOT and/or threshold braking, without much gray area

the fact that it is a tip costs you too - i had forgotten that one

so, revising, given that factory spec for the 6 speed is 17 and 26, and factoring in your wheels, and mileage, you could expect roughly 13 in town and 22 highway

On a drive to Memphis this w/e I checked my mileage and it was just over 27 mpg driving at 85 mph when traffic/construction allowed. Of course the mileage while in Memphis was nowhere near that (DE event).

As I recall, when I brought the car home from Wash., DC I got just over 26 mpg each tank. Have yet to check in-town mileage.

I just calculated mine having just come back from the pump ($80 later, gah). I drove the car 344 miles (554km) on around 64L (16.9 gal) of fuel, so that gives me 20.34 mpg, or 8.65 km/l

This is driving 45% city, 45% highway, 10% spirited driving WOT As well as tearing around town at 3000 - 4000 rpm. I'm sure If I wanted to I could stretch this to 22mpg or more if I drove in grandpa mode all the time, but this car is WAYY too fun for that

How much milage has anyone gotten out of a single tank of gas, I'm wondering. I think I could have taken mine to at least 370 miles or maybe 380. Not bad for a sports car

If it idles well, runs great, and one is gettting 27.5mpg on a trip...no need to replace the O2 sensor, rignt? If it ain't broke...

probably not - i am the king of replacing stuff BEFORE it fails, but in this case, if there are no symptoms indicating it (fuel economy, odd running, sluggish throttle, etc) then i would say you could leave it alone

i just changed mine though, in an effort to get every last pony out of it, and since that is what tells the brain what to do, the coating from 3 years of running, while looking quite normal, could not have been optimal for performance

Mine's been pretty consistent at 20 - 21 mpg, moderate driving with just an occasional dip into the throttle. Oddly, my highway mileage has never been much better, but here in Texas we tend to drive about 80 - 85 mph when conditions permit, so it might be different than someplace where you can only go 60 - 65.

It's amazing to travel to places where people actually drive at these kind of speeds. I once drove on a divided-lane state highway in Indiana in traffic going 55. I thought I was in an alien world and finally broke out into a relaxed cruise at about 65 ... and promptly got pulled over and ticketed. Took a lot of self-restraint not to tell the officer that we go 80 - 85 in Texas ....

I have been documenting all mileages since I recieved the car, and to date after two full tanks of gas in my ownership thus far, I have managed an average or 502 miles per tank, with an average of 26.9mpg, about 50/50 highway/city. I usually go down pretty deep though, to the light resulting in typical 18-19 gallon refills. 18.9 gallons was my last tank of 93.

Had to cruise out to eastern NC for a meeting a few weeks back. Had a wide open new highway early in the morning in the middle of nowhere.

The car got terrible mileage

Otherwise I average around 22-23.

21.847826 MPG

How's that for details !

Actually that is just one tank 18.4 Gal Shell 92 Octane and 402 mile in two days on the PCA club tour. As some of you may know this is what we call "Spirited" driving. It was raining on and off so the top was up on my 93 Cab Tiptronic. This is with two adults and full trunk luggage with some A/C usage. I have the factory standard 17 inch wheel & tire set. Most of this driving was in the Tip side with Red line shifting and frequent up and down on country roads. Top speeds where occasionally three digits, but mostly 50 to 90 in sprints.

I think this car usually get in the rage of 17 to 25 depending on load & driving style which is pretty good for a 3300 pound sports machine with automatic.
