Fuel Injector Cleaners. Are they safe to use?
#1

For some odd reason I decided to use a bottle of fuel injector cleaner with yesterdays fill up. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/ohmy.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> Car seems to be running well but the check engine light appeared this morning but went off after 5 minutes. Therefore -- how do my fellow 968 members view this stuff. Is it BS? Does it really help? Or if am I looking for engine trouble by using it?

well, as long as it is fairly new, and a major brand, it should be fine

this assumes you are following the instructions on how much to use and such

Not exactly on topic, but I blew a set of spark plugs with too much octane booster in a GMC Yukon.

I use Chevron Techron regularly (about every oil & filter change) and feel that it keeps my fuel injectors and valves clean. Never had any problems from using it. Good luck, Bob Blackwell.

I too used the Chevron Techron cleaner - however, I think the problem is or was the fact I poured two bottles of it in one tank of gas. Which BTW I forgot to write in this original post. So please be kind when replying to this post about my stupidity.

I used more than specified in my truck and it fried one of the o2 sensors very quickly.
