FORUM ACTIVITY
#1

Perhaps it is just me, but lately (last month or so) there seems to be a step change drop forum user traffic. If you are seeing that, is there any idea as to why?

I also visit the Rennlist board, and don't see the drop in use of that board.

Just my opinion; but, wondering what is going on.

actually not much, it has been very high - there are so many areas though, that if you are only looking at specific things, it may seem that way

also, it is summer time - that is the slowest time for these boards - people are busy - even i have not been able to devote the time to it that i need to

as for rennlist, it has really slowed down - there are only about a dozen people talking, and it sometimes goes a couple of days at a time without a post (nearly did this weekend)

I, for one, have not been around all summer. I'm actually looking really looking forward to getting caught up on all of the forums. Welcome Back to myself and anyone else who has been absent for awhile.

I'm still reading and lurking as often as twice per day, but not much to post about...as flash mentions, summer is a busy time for most folks and I for one have been forced to focus on business activities, so haven't had much car time myself. Did take advantage of the down time to address some surface flaws on my paint while my instrument cluster was in North Hollywood getting the odo fixed as well as the temp gauge. It should be back in a few days and I can get the car back on the road.

I read most of the time, and have quick view once or twice a day, or should it be drug968 related?

Can't live without a 968 or so? I perhaps may need a shot of it from time to time.

I've noticed low traffic in all forums (not just here) -- but that's pretty common. Forums tend to be busiest in the winter when many people have nothing else we can do....

You had a point - hahaha

Summer for sure. I can only get on a couple of minutes late before I leave the office these days. What's on has been interesting.

Not directly related to this, so with an advance apology...

I just noticed that the number of forum members is approaching 10,000! Is that real? If so, that would be pretty amazing, considering that there were only 12,xxx 968s produced.

Honestly I am visiting less because I am not sure where to go as the General Discussion has been removed or moved and I am not sure where it went.

Also it seems like every issue has been discussed so I just search for the issue I am interested in.

Happy 9/6/8 day!

lol - it is gone - most of the threads from there have been relocated to where they really belonged - too many people were sticking threads there because they were generally too lazy to put them where they belong - i think it is a carryover from boards that aren't organized - what is a "general" topic anyway? i can't think of anything that doesn't really belong somewhere else

Takes me way too long to find anything when I try and find a thread I remember reading 3 days ago. Personally think things are way over classified, so i for the most part just check the new posts.

I only really read the 'new posts' section, too........

even when I search for my own topics with known key words, they are still hard to find...

but it is still the best 968 site!

I just use the view new threads button, unless I am searching or browsing old threads and topics.

I get on every day to see what's happening. Lots of interesting mods and fixes. Checking out Roland's revival was better than reading the summer novel.

things are actually way too UNDER-CLASSIFIED - i got as far as i could at the time, but the problem is that i need to create more subpages - the one page "insta-click" isn't working for archival purposes - i'm working on that, as well as making the subpages more obvious and accessible - i think it is going to have to take a second click though to get there

the search mechanism has its limits, but is very effective if you know how to use it - you must use the advanced form - the basic one does not work well in many situations

that's also why things need to be grouped - for example, all of the chip threads need to be grouped together - all of the exhaust threads - yada yada - i'm working on it - in the end, it will be set up much like an encyclopedia - the table of contents will be a lot more complete, and i hope to have an index of sorts at a click from the index page - the home page, which many of you have not visited since you joined, will be a lot more integral of a component very soon too - that's where a lot of the "new" stuff is going to live

the idea of "view new posts" actually is a bad one in some respects - it's not bad to see what's going on today, but to use that as the primary means of finding anything is a real problem, leading to duplicative threads and redundant conversations - it also shortchanges people on a lot of things by them not going to areas unless they showed up on "view new posts" - it does not include everything either - with an average of nearly 60 posts per day, and sometimes well over 100, i am willing to bet that your "view new posts" click isn't showing them all - i know mine isn't - i am constantly finding things in areas that i don't normally check, that did not show up on "view new posts", and you all know how often i am here

lots of work still to be done - miles to go before i sleep
