First Month of Ownership
#1

I've had my 92 968Cab for a month now and driven it everyday to work and then some more on weekends. Comming from the 944 S2 was quite a difference in feel, but once I got used to the weight and feel of the car, man oh man... what a car... 2nd and 3rd high through the rev range and the loveable 4200rpm kick is so additive... I seldom use 4th, and I once used 5th and 6th on the highway.... wooooooopi.... luckily the cops are on strike

Alround, this is an amazing car to drive, to look at, and to own. The kids insist on dropping the top irrespective how cold it is... I keep a blanket in the boot just in case

Here some pics after a quick wash on the weekend.... I still need to stop driving and make time to get really neat ones...

You've captured the feel of 968 ownership. I've had mine for more than 5 years, and more than 100,000 miles - and it still makes me smile. Keep enjoying.

Me too! Bought "ol blue" in 2003 with 64K miles on it and it now has 166K! Good luck and enjoy, Bob Blackwell.

Welcome, We know just how you feel.

While on this site I would highly recommend finding the Air Box mod thread.

This is the easiest and cheapest mod to the car and will increase your enjoyment even more.

It's the first thing I did and I really noticed the difference.

My car is still close to stock as well and I have no problems running with cars that have V6's / V8's. I've driven a number of other cars as well but no one does it like Porsche.

No substitute.

I love my 968 for what it is & don't hate it for what it isn't!

Thanks Jay

I had a Promax chip in the 944S2 for the last 5 yrs, and at the time, there was huge debate on the old 968 board about chips and it scored well but the US guys had a ! light problem with the early chips.

I suppose times have changed and I'll definately look into the RS chip if it supports ROW cars. . I thought to cost a lot more too.

Great looking unit!I've had mine(92' black 968 coupe) for quite a while(got over 90,000) on it.Did belts/rollers ect at 85,000(for the second time under my regime)(3rd time overall) so I should be good to go for a while.Like I said in another post, just oil changes and a set of tires is all it's needed.I sold the Benz and the Rover sucks too much gas so I am driving it(968) everyday now.Hope you have great luck with yours as well.Take care of it.Maybe(now) the most bang for the buck(other than 86' 944 turbo) that Porsche came out with.

Daydreamer,

Great look Cabriolet - in my favorite color! Bought my car new in New York and just last week finally bought my spare DME relay off Ebay for $24. Sounds like you made a great purchase - good luck with the car.

thanks.... its not that bad here...... nothing beats being alive in Africa blasting around in a Porsche on roads built for driving german cars and non- effective law enforcement with pathetically low fines (not that I break the law). We do have the largest Porsche Center in the world for a reason
