I was keenly watching as my odometer was about to roll over to 80K and it got stuck!! Moving 5 digits was just too much for it.
Now reads 79999 and holding. Trip died too.
Oh s*** , I thought. I couldn't wait to get home and fire up the 968 forums, hoping someone, anyone, had seen this before. Much to my relief (though not to yours, I'm sure) I see that MANY of you have had this happen and that there is a relatively simple and inexpensive fix. I've got an e-mail out to Brett, hoping to get one of his gears.
My main point is that this website is great! Otherwise, as basic nonwrencher I would have simply relied on the local Porsche dealer (read "Satan" ) who advised me that I needed a "new speedometer." Ouch.
Anyway, I don't post much and am pretty naive re a lot of tech issues (I just love driving a great car) but I really appreciate the experience and expertise found here. Thanks to all.
