blender option on new stereo?
#1

ok - this is not on the 968, but probably could be if i were willing to find a new location for my guages

ayn finally decided enough was enough, and i had a new deck installed in the 2002 E46 5-sp ragtop bmw - since it looks like we are going to keep it for a little while, because we can't find anything we like better

now that we decided to keep it, we are upgrading it a bit - besides the deck, it will get bigger sway bars, some programming, an exhaust and an intake (she's been informed that she is officially a car nut now)

this project was driven by the need for bluetooth to connect the phone - here in california, come january holding a cell phone in your hand to talk while driving is illegal - besides, being a 5 speed, it's hard to use the phone anyway - after having the avic D1 in the denali for the last year or so, she also wanted nav

a bit of research, and i found only one deck that did everything we wanted - it was the new pioneer Z2

this thing is amazing - it has full hardrive nav (much faster than dvd nav), bluetooth, phone book, voice activation, cd, dvd, mp3, 30 gig harddrive (10 of which is for music storage), and tv, sirius, xm, if you want them - we got the gadgets to connect to the steering wheel and such, and it just truly astounds me - dialing the phone, if you don't have the number programmed, happens on the screen, as do all other features - the phone stays in her purse - it is heard through the system, which automatically mutes for a call, and the mic is right in front of the steering wheel - sounds great!

the eq section leaves me a bit wanting, as it is only a 3 band parametric, but with the other onboard audio features (like sound stage, variable loudness, and an eq expander that acts like a BBE) i was able to get really good sound out of the standard 2 way separates that were in the car (didn't even have the harmon kardon system in there) even though it's a ragtop

the only thing missing is the blender option

For $2200 (list) it should include the blender.

tom - yeah, and another couple hundred bucks for the necessary adaptors to talk to everything and another 400 to install it

but hey, the thing is amazing and she's happy, so that's all that really matters to me

When would one find the time to hold the wheel, indicate turns, shift, look out out for other idiots with high tech goodies, etc.???

that's the beauty - most of the controls are on the wheel, others are voice activated

Kitt: "Michael, I am sensing a dangerous situation...."

Michael: "Relax Kitt! I'm in control...." BELCH "I feel sick...."

Just a personal opinion on all the gadgets in cars these days.... When I'm driving, I hate talking on the phone regardless if it's via hand held or bluetooth! Whatever happened to good ol' driving and listening to tunage?!

Anyway, the P-Z2 sounds like a sweet system!

lol - hilarious

i agree, but with our lives the way they are, and our work being what it is, we cannot always avoid it - at least this way, when it becomes necessary to use the phone, it's a lot safer

p.s. most of the time i don't even have the stereo on in the 968 - i prefer to just drive
