Factory front splitter...
#1

Okay, for all you 968 gurus/nuts:

The PoMoSport (Porsche Motorsport) front splitter that many of us have is NOT, I repeat, NOT the one shown in the factory Tequipment book for the 968. The PoMoSport one is the same or similar one found on the the Turbo S and possibly also the Turbo RS. But have look at the Tequipment book for the add-ons of the 968. The splitter shown there looks *very* different, almost similar in design concept to a 993 3-piece front splitter (993 RS I believe). Of course, I emailed Sunset with the part # to ask if it was available... Nope. Relatively cheap too, with respect to the still-available PoMoSport one.

The part number for the splitter is 000 043 300 20 (or 000 043 300 70- one is the cab rear spoiler, don't have th ebook with me to confirm). And the last confirmed price would have been *only* $361 ($402 for the second part)! I believe the PoMoSport splitter starts with a 968 number...

Does anyone have this unique splitter? Has anyone ever seen one for sale?

I would love to see some actual photos of it or find one. I think I would like it better than the PoMoSport one I intend to put on my cab.

the porsche motorsport splitter does begin with a "968" - i'm having a hard time finding the number at the moment though

i believe you are talking about the Tech Art splitter - i had one for a moment, thinking i had ordered the porsche motorsport unit - a newer member "T-Bone" has one on his white 95 hardtop

here is a shot on a yellow car:

you should not have a problem finding that a home - they are in demand, and with gert at carnewal being the only real source, and the dollar being down, this is a good time

upsides to the tech art:

replaces the front apron

does not stick out as far, reducing chances of snagging

much better integration with the rest of the car's components

downsides of the tech art:

albeit subjectively, not generally thought of as quite as attractive

multiple pieces and specific hardware

upsides of the porsche motorsport:

better downforce and air direction capability

downsides of the porsche motorsport:

easy to snag and curl, destroying paint, especially if your car is lowered

not sure which way i would go, if i were to do it over again, and was limiting myself to a production unit

Dave- I am interested in a swap. I'll show you mine if you show me yours?!! I'll take some photos of it. I was sourced from Carnewal in Europe and it is the polyurethane OEM front splitter complete with the 968 part # molded into it. It has a couple of scuffs on the bottom since it was on my coupe which was lowered to ROW height. It is painted Aventurine green and the paint job is not that good- the underside has started to flake off. I believe the prep work done wasn't sufficient and I also believe no flex agent was added. Basically what I am saying is the paint job is crap and the piece should be completely stripped and repainted to match whatever color you would want. I'll snap photos of the splitter, including the part number and scuffed areas, and send them to you. I'll shoot you a PM with my email address so we can take this off-line for easier pic transfer. Please send me pics of yours if you can, and we can go from there. And yes, I am in the "soon to be economically desolate" US of A!

Rader- I will respond to your PM shortly.

Thanks fellas!

If Bio doesn't take the splitter off your hands, please let me know. I am very interested!!! I've got 993 stuff to trade but unfortunately no 968 parts. Understand that cash talks. I'm in Germany. Thanks for keeping me in mind!

I have posted these pic's before but thought I would show them again since they are relevant to the topic. I have one of the original Porsche Motorsports Group front Splitter. I believe that mine is a Turbo RS part. The numbers that I have for it are '968 505 071 00'.
