if you're looking to do a one off part, or a small handful of things, alsacorp.com sells some amazing chrome paint. Some of the only stuff that actually looks and reflects like chrome. Depending on what you're doing, this may prove to be a better option.

Saxman. That's an amazing site, thanks for the lead. That said, their paints are frightfully expensive for a somewhat novice painter--$150/8 oz of Mirrorchrome. Mistake could be costly.

I do have an unopened can of Spaz-Stix Mirror Chrome ($12) which I chose not to use on my instrument reflectors. My interest in plastic chroming or painting is for the center caps of my wheels which I had polished last year to remove curb rash from the previous owner. I'll probably give the Spaz-Stix a try if I can't find a plastic chromer although I have some doubt about the durability of any paint on wheel caps.

A good cleaning/prepping of the surface, plus a clear coat over the spray should give you a good chance at making it last.

gryphon... check out the "killer chrome" they sell in an aerosal can. They put a lot of work into designing an aerosol spray can that actually provides good results, and at only $39.99 for the full size can, it's a lot more exconomical than purchasing 8 oz. of the mirrachrome product.

With either paint, a good high gloss black basecoat and a clear coat are necessary.

I've seen the alsacorp paint applied in person, and it's absolutely amazing. Nothing like any other chrome paint I've ever seen.

Thanks, Saxman. I didn't see the aerosol products on the site. I'll check it out.
