The impossible dream?

Does anyone have a ECUfix that is surplus to their needs and will consider selling, if so please PM me with the details?

Your assistance appreciated.

Flash,

I obviously didn`t get it right if you don`t know what it is.

What I'm after is the airbag reset unit based upon the ECUFix.com interface (no longer available). I understand a unit was develpoed by forum members some time ago and is still in use eg Anchorman.

What should I call it?

Now we understand.

If you weren't quite so far away, something probably could be worked out for me to lend you my unit. However, given the current rarity of the device, I hope you understand that I'd rather not undertake the risk of loss inherent in sending it around the planet. (In fact, IIRC, it was a loss of a unit in shipping that caused Ritchie to stop making them.)

For whatever it's worth, though, I believe (I'd have to check) that I have the schematic and printed circuit board layout, so a decent electronics hobbyist likely would be able to duplicate the unit. I, however, am not such a hobbyist.

Thank you for the response.

I always understood the logistics of shipping any test unit downunder held risk and never expected such action to be undertaken, thus I decided to examine the possibility of acquiring a "surplus' unit which I thought probably fell into the category of "impossible dream" anyway..

If you do run across your schematic/cb layout and you can provide them, this would be greatly appreciated but please don`t go to any special trouble.

Again, thanks for the assistance.

Perhaps there is a bosch hammer somewhere in your hemisphere?

I'll check my files to see if, in fact, I have what I believe I have. At worst (and this really would be the worst), I can take as many digital photos of the unit as you would need to understand how it's built.

BTW - calling it a "mini-hammer" is probably the most descriptive term that would be immediately understood.

lol - i rather figured it might be something like that, but thought i would let you clarify rather than going into some lengthy speculation - never heard of that one though

you could try to get your hands on a durametric setup

The draw is inserted of the board from the MINI HAMMER!

Anchorman,
The other funny thing you can do with the interface is plotting and printing some diagrams when the car is running.
It is an ossiloscope for some params. Can be handy sometimes??

If your interested in, pm me. Because it is a zipfile.

Regards Ritchie

This guy from Rennlist had a few of the Sipex chips ...maybe he will sell one?? This is an old chip and may be hard to find.

I have the Durametric unit and always promote it when I see people looking for a reset/diag tool:

http://www.durametric.com/

Durametric does limit the number of units you can repair to three different ecu's for the cheap diag tool.

The non pro version limits it to three vehicles- not sure if it is a setting on the software or the device actually stores some unique identifier

Thanks for the file post, Ritchie. In the interests of accuracy, I need to say that I erred above when I said that Ritchie stopped making the device. It was Andy that stopped making it - Ritchie was, and obviously continues to be, an invaluable resource in the use of the device.

If it is stored on the computer I'm sure I could but if it is stored on the device it would be more difficult

That SW is so cool. I have no idea what I would do with the information it gathers, but it looks like a great tool for those who do.

since there is no "device" i guess i'm fine - just a cable with 2 adaptors and a laptop - i'll take the connectors apart though to see if there is a chip inside

If you are speaking about the Duratec...yep, there is a chip in the wide flat connector. Somewhere in the user guide and on the web site it says 'three vehicles' which equals three ecu's.

There is a pro version (costs more) but unlimited vehicles I think...

I use an old Dell Latitude laptop I rebuilt to run the program. Never had a problem. The round connector and cable connectors are very well made.

Durametric.

well, i took the connector apart and yes there is a small board with a chip on it - not sure if it's just a translator or if it has use limitations

it is durametric not duratec - disk does not say pro - will fire up system and see what it says

i'll have to look into this before i blow it
