It is funny what some people pay on certain Items on ebay. It pays to be a good consumer and know the value of the items you bid on. In the past I have picked up some really great deals on ebay.

Example:

Saratoga Top for $50 Buyer had no idea what they had it was left in their garage by a former roomate. I turned around and sold it for $600

V1 1.8 and Etched mirror $350 I contacted the buyer and asked them what they would take as a buy it now price. They replied with $350 I jumped on it. The V1 is worth that and the mirror is worth $500-600. I still have the set it will go in my next car.

If you know the value of Items you can get some great deals. However there are a lot of people that will run up an auction out of stupidity.

Also I use www.esnipe.com. It is one of the greatest services on the internet if you shop on ebay. I have not lost an auction yet. At least on a price I was willing to pay.

You have to be cautious on eBay. I took it in the shorts last year for $640 and I paid via PayPal thinking that was safe...100% good feedback. It was a setup and a lot of people took a hosing while the guy skipped town with a lot of money from a lot of unfilled orders and no forwarding address. I eventually got $175 back from eBay months later but PayPal was nothing but automated messages...never could get a rise out of a live body. Caveat Emptor...buyer beware. But as Sandoval says, if you're savvy (and careful) there are some good deals too.

Perhaps it's my 928 upbringing but I've been buying spare brains and relays on eBay, thinking the price eventually will go up and I'll get my money back if I never need them. Those babies are costly to buy new or even used but sometimes eBay prices are OK. Some items, like fuel pumps, etc, you probably want to buy new if you're going to be driving distances or here in the west where towns sometimes are many miles apart. We have places not far from here where it's 115-125 between gas stops.....with no stores of anykind. Just wilderness. We even carry sleeping bags, food and fire starter when traveling some places in the winter.

Wow, where do you live, exactly? I think I want to move there. I love desolate places!

Harvey,

We used to carry those things with us too in the family car, but the extra water kept freezing. Flares are a must, if you break down durring a big snow storm you car could get burried in a few hours and then chewed up by the rotary plow.....happened a few years back to an unlucky lady and her dog....yuk.
