Auto pilot? I’m driving a loaner cayenne and am very impressed by this vehicle. Trying to figure out the automatic transmission took some getting used to. That driveway looks difficult in the best of circumstances. Clearly not enough gas or power was given to jump the car after launching off the wall.

It's a strange one isn't it? Almost deliberate.  Maybe hit the gas instead of the brake? Selected 1st instead of reverse ... as we 6spd owners know those two can be very close together. 

My wife spotted the video before I looked at this link, she muttered something like "typical Porsche driver!"... she's not particularly keen on my 968 driving.  I must admit it is a bit binary, but what's the point in owning a Porsche and driving it like a shopping trolley??

Apparently he had just picked the car up, it was two hours old, he had gone to visit a friend and reached in the back of the car for something

 

and forgot to take it out of electric drive thinking the car was off, no engine noise, and stabbed the loud pedal accident!

Oops, sorry about my previous “ cool “ post ... I can’t recall what I was watching but it wasn’t that accident, somehow I must have jumped to another linked video .. ugh, that was painful to watch , regardless of what caused it..

Interesting unintended consequences of having an electric car .... no engine noise, no idea it's going to respond to the accelerator. I'll bet there's going to be a few more videos like that.

As if electric cars didn’t have enough problems already .. Tesla is not the only self combustible one, Hyundai is recalling a ton of their cars because of exploding batteries.  Add self driving features to silent running and you have a stealth missile on your hands .  It may be the future of the automotive industry, but until they get their act straight and address safety as the top priority, not sure how well, or how quickly they’ll take over .  IMHO.  


In the meantime, while we still drive real cars, and not appliances , just remember Eric Clapton’s words of wisdom :

Gas, diesel, electric, steam, turbine,m atomic, they all have a gear shift with park on it. If you have been driving for more than 5 minutes you know that.
