I wonder who here uses driving gloves on a regular basis when out in their 968?
I don't mean "at the track", but rather, "around town"...
I did not use driving gloves when I first got the 968, but when going on the Saturday morning local Breakfast Runs last year, I noticed that I felt more connected when I used my leather gloves. These were the "cold weather type", since it was in April and at 5:30 in the morning it is still rather chilly around here. After a few Saturday runs, I decided to buy proper driving gloves for one of the next outings, but could not find something online that would ship fast enough. Someone at work told me to try the local Tack Shop for horse riding supplies. I found a pair of gloves that have deerskin palms and spandex backs, and decided to give them a try. They work great!
Now I use them all the time! My 24 year old son likes to give me a hard time about it, but I don't care. The leather on my steering wheel is still in mint shape after 87k miles, and I feel that leather on leather will also help to preserve it better than oily / sweaty hands on leather.
I wonder who else will fess up to using gloves (other than at the track)!
