Driver side window issue
#1

I had the driver side window half way down, shut the door and the window tilted diagonal down as if something let loose. The first time I tried to put the window it back up, it was out of line with the door side molding and wouldn't go up. I opened the window almost all the way down and slid it back into the molding and up it went, but now it makes a bit of a noise. Anybody have any idea what might be the issue here before I take apart the door panel?

Thanks

sounds like the front guide has let go - you're going to need to pull the door panel to see

thanks, is it something that falls out of line or just breaks and has to be replaced.

it's been along time since i had the door apart on a hard top, but i think there is a plastic clamp and a guide rail - either one could have let go - once you yank the panel, it will be very obvious what went wrong - it only takes a few minutes

Got the door panel off and it seems the lower part of the window has come out of the rubber gasket and metal track on the side closest to the door handle. I will have to glue the gasket back down to the metal track.

This is fixed so thought I would just update how I fixed it in case someone else has the same issue. I'll skip the part about taking the door panel off. The window came out of its lower support, basically the window separated from the rubber molding and the rubber molding separated from the metal track. Looks like there was some moisture that got in there and created some rust and erosion of the seal.

So, I cleaned everything with lacquer thinner. Filled the rubber molding with silicone and pushed the window into and let it dry overnight, very tight real. Then I used a product called "Seal-All," which is designed to attached rubber molding to metal. Filled the metal track with seal all and coated the bottom of the rubber molding with it. Pushed the two together and let it cure overnight, again a very tight seal. Buttoned it all back up and everything works good as new.
