anybody have a shot of a seat heater switch?
#1

i'm installing seat heaters in the blue car, and i am choosing a switch - i'd like to see a shot of the OEM seat heater switch if anybody has one

i already have the pic from the PET - what i need is a photo of the real thing

i'd just order them and cross my fingers, but there is only 1 in the US - i'd have to send for the other one from germany - of course i want to do both seats at once, so i'm stuck until i see the switch to know if it will fit where i want it to

It will be damn near identical to the rheostat on the dashboard.

it looks bigger than that - the PET shows it as a 3 position rocker switch, and looks to be similar in size to the other switches on the dash, at least the portion that sticks out from the dash

i want to put them on the dash, but only if they match in size

so, again, i really need a photo

I'd recommend ordering the one in the US to verify. I am assuming you can return it if you don't need it (won't fit for your application).

Are you going with original elements from Porsche or are you getting aftermarket ones (such as in the "kits" you see on ebay all the time)?

I would love to add heaters to my seats - always wanted them - but I want stock appearance and functionality. I don't like the round buttons that come with the kits and switching out the seat switch bezel to the one which accommodates the heater switch looks to be painful...

There is a 928 seat heater switch on ebay right now, but I could have sworn the switch seen on regular seats was a rheostat.

i plan to order that switch in about a half hour - i think i can return it (it's an electrical part though, so who knows?) - it is a $90 part, so i was trying to get a pic first, and save myself the shipping cost if it wasn't close

it will be the kit typical of what you find on the web - the switch is also my issue, which is why i am looking for the photo

according to the PET, it is a 3 position rocker switch - i have that pic, but it is a drawing

Check out this ebay auction....

They're at Oklahoma Foreign for a buy it now of $29. If it is the same, might be worth a try. Certainly a less expensive route to start with for investigational purposes.

Odd, I posted a shot of the heater switch last night after your request and I see the post never took. I guess it's pointless now as you have ordered a switch. Oh well.

Much prefer a dial with more settings than on/off or lo/hi/off
installed these in the wife's 4 Runner and considering them for one of the 968's

got a much better price from him on eBay but do not see any current auctions from the seller.

Don't have pic but have seat heaters. I have been looking at different Porsche seats and have found Porsche used two different switches. The one like I have is a rocker with a temp roller in the middle and the other is just a rocker no temp roller. Have seen variuos years with the no roller but only a couple 94 95 with the roller. If you are going year correct this may effect your choice. Dewane

Flash I have this in my cab. The upper part of the rocker (with the little Braille dots) turns the heater on, the lower part (with no dots) turns it off, and the thumb wheel dial in the middle adjusts the heat continuously from very low the very high. Spinning it up increases the heat and spinning it down is reverse. I think that it even has numbers 1-5 on the dial. It shuts off when the car is turned off so you have to tip the top part of the rocker every time you turn the car on, but at least the temp section stays the same. Car is not here so I could not get a pic. Note that the seat bottom and back heat up via a heating element in the cushion - it is NOT related to the heating system in the car. And it works really well.
