Good one, Jay. Never heard of it, but it definitely fits the "dream car" bill.



For me, if I had a world-beating track car, like one of the recent 968 turbo conversions, it wouldn't matter to me much what I drove on the street. But if pressed, a McLaren F1 under the tree would do very nicely.

I'd put an Audi R8 GT in the garage and call it a day. It's calm enough to drive on the streets, reliable and a great performer on the track. Interior looks great, and the car is very engaging to drive. AWD + 562HP makes for a fun ride. 333 produced.

OK, since we're dreaming, here goes:



1. Finish track car conversion of my current 968 (complete suspension revamp, ~200 lb lightening, rebuilt engine with ~270 hp in the end).



2. Have a blast finishing up the courses at the local driving academy, doing DE's, time trials, and finally competitive racing



3. Begin longing for more power



4. Win lottery



5. Buy another very nice, low mileage 968



5. Pull engine out of new 968, and turbocharge it, following in Dimma's brilliant footsteps



6. Swap engines between the two 968's



7. If still available, possibly add D1R supercharger to the street 968



This would give me the ultimate track 968 (maybe the ultimate track car, period, though of course this is debatable), and a fantastic 968 for the street as well. And to all a good night...

Well, it would probably be an original euro spec 968 turbo. This is a tough one....considering I basically already have a replica 968 TS waiting to be built.....Id have to say a 959. Id say a Giugiaro designed Porsche tapiro...but that is unobtanium, considering theyre all destroyed. There are some other Giugiaro designed cars that would be high on the list, 959 would take the cake though.

I could afford two of my "dream" cars ( DB9 and Fort GT ) but as I said before , I could not afford the divorce if I bought either / or ..

However, the dream car I would put on a pedestal is a Ferrari Dino. That's my choice above all else, but it would probably not be driven...rather, just kept as a museum piece, encased in lucite

Yeah, I was thinking of going with the Dino as well, but I assumed the car would be one that is driven, and as cool as the classics are, as driver's cars, a new Civic would eat most of their lunches in terms of comfort, performance, and day-to-day livability. Even my choice of an F1 probably wouldn't be a car I'd actually want to live with. Upon reflection, if I liked the looks of the R8 more, that would be the logical choice for a do-everything-brilliantly car. A supercharged 968 with the full dynamat treatment and a killer stereo is looking better and better all the time...

Hmmmm... tough choice, but I am partial to the Ferrari 550/575/599 cars, with the special editions being top dog...
