Door Plugs from BUMPERPLUGS.COM
#1

I just got my 3 door plugs for my 968. The polar silver color is PERFECT!

I tried to press them in, but they felt way too tight.

The web site says that they are easily removable, but I can not get mine in without extreme pressure ( hammer time ).

I measured my key and it is .392 x .085. The plug measures .430 x .115.

I could pound them in, but I don't think that I could ever get them out again.

Is there only one size? Should I trim down the plugs?

What am I missing? This would seem to be a level .1 DIY!

Anyone else have these that could clue me in?

I'll email Eric about it and post the reply.

After I installed the Bulldog remote entry system and the trunk pop relay I bought 3 small painted plastic disks that cover up the key cylinders.

If anyone EVER has any problems with our door plugs or other products, all they need do is call or email me.

Door Plugs are designed for specific keyslot sizes, so yes, size does matter. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/smile.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

However, fitting them on other doors is usually a snap. Simply trimming the stem with an x-acto (thereby reducing the overall width of the stem) usually answers the call.

Let me know if that does the trick. Happy to help anytime. Thanks!

How easy would they be to remove on a freezing-cold day if the keyless entry failed? Not being argumentative: curious.

Maybe that's a stock photo or something? My door handle looks quite different: it has a semielliptical shiny metal escutcheon around the lock cylinder: hard to imagine a plug filling that area well...

I had the same thought. All newer cars that have keyless entry still come with keys for use in the standard locks (at least our other two cars do). Why would you want to plug them? To keep the elements out? Purely aesthetics? I too am just curious. Thanks.

It's all about the looks!

You have the painted rear bumpers from bumperplugs.com and I feel that your white 968 looks much nicer with this mod.

Things like this and the key hole covers are in the same vain as putting euro front lenses to make the front look more strealined. It may not be for everyone, but I think that ALL the stuff from Eric @ bumperplugs makes our cars look better.

Chris,

No, it did not. Eric @ bumperplugs was kind enough to give me a full credit on return. They went out UPS yesterday.
