i dont know what to do, so i am asking your opinions on this:



1. add a supercharger the 430bhp kit from 9m in the UK. OR



2. take my engine out ship it to pete at rs barn get him to rebuild it, knife edge crank full balanced and lightend, carrillo rods or similar, stage 3 head and cams, lwfw, and the custom intake manifold he does. should be good for 320bhp.



this car is mostly going to be used as a track car, plus driving it to the venues. opinions please, or any others ideas are welcome. pazzer <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/cool.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

No disrespect to Pete at RS barn, but all the work you want done can be carried out right in here in the NW of England. Or if you go down sarff you can get a crate turbo motor that will be 400+ hp.



By the time you have paid shipping costs you would be nealy finished rebuilding your engine.

Hi Pete, how are you, the only reason i would have pete from rs barn rebuild it, is all his products work on this engine, plus he knows a lot about them, who would you suggest to build a cracking engine in england thats putting out over 300 horses then, did a search on the net and theres nobody, that offers heads and cams, intake manifolds over here. regards chris.

Why not do both...



Rebuild your engine with the lightened crank,rods etc... Lower the compresion ratio.[ To make for a low stress engine]..Keep your standard head + inlet...Fit a "motorsport" flywheel+Better clutch....Youve then got a very strong base engine to then fit the SC...Awesome POWER.... <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/biggrin.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/biggrin.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/biggrin.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

And i AM serious this time.....Just depends how DEEP your pockets are.....??????

Not too sure on the current cost of the SC-9M kit....



Ill poss be able to give you a rough idea of the cost of a engine rebuild after tomoz...

Paz, no matter what you do apart from basic chip upgrades, you're going to have to rebuild the motor anyway. So with that in mind I agree with BDave, in that you could do both, or go down the turbo route as well. This is when you are at the top of a very slippery slope and can be presented with the 'while you're in there' scenario. I don't know what it would cost to ship your motor to the US and have rebuilt? I considered having my whole car shipped to my builder over in the US from all the way down under, but that's because it is going to be a monster build with a bunch of goodies going in. I would enquire as to getting a motor built in the US if you can't find what you want in the UK. From what I hear the best person to do a turbo build in the UK is Simon Peckam of SPS turbo's. Talk to Nick with the turbo'd 968 engine in his 944. I can put you in touch with the guys doing my build in the US too. We're talking F1 experienced guys, not corner garage stuff though.

Chris, sorry I didn't get a chance to run you round at Oulton yesterday, but that said the weather wasn't great - I look forward to seeing the lightened version of your tarmac exocet. No prob Chris - I'll dig out the receipt and post cost here or PM you. Yes, I'm 350 (dyno was 375 corrected) - if I wanted to go to 420 I think the additional spend is £2k (not 100% sure - had the conversation a while back).
