Different gauge faces.
#1

Anybody seen these?

I think you can get them in different colors and fonts.

They also make some gauge rings.

Any thoughts?

Well....

While I somewhat like the gauge faces, I dislike the looks of the font he/she used. Just doesn't seem to be "right". I also don't like the large "cut-outs" on the side gauges in the some of the other pictures on the site- I want the face to completely cover the gauge if at all possible.

Overall, I think they are good. And I like the gauge rings. I have a set (different supplier/manufacturer) but I do not know if I am going to install the.

I especially think gauges such as these would look good on silver (hint hint) and white cars.

The gauges are not where the action is on these cars. I can see where it makes sense to spend money goofing around with gauge faces on a Mitsu or even a FORD. But these beasts are about driving. The stock gauges are all the car needs - they tell you how what RPM you are turning and how fast you are going. Bling in the business areas of a Porsche can start to look tarted up pretty quickly.

It's also hard to justify a cosmetic modification that represents perhaps 10% of the value of the car.

i like the trim rings (they would go well with the stainless steel shift knob insert), but not the white gauges (never was a fan of white gauges).

Jim,
Do you have the aluminum rings from Jager? I was thinking about getting them. If you want to sell them, please send me a PM.

Brian-

I have the ones from a guy on Ebay, who happens to be based in Germany. The rings are stainless steel and much less expensive that the Jager ones. There a little smaller in thickness and such so I am not sure if I want to do them or not. I'll grab the photo off Ebay and post it here for comparison purposes.

EDIT: Picture added for reference. These are the rings I have and have not installed yet.

If you want to PM me your address, you can have mine. After speaking with Flash last night and really thinking about how the rings I have would mount/look, I do not want to try it. I don't think it will be easy and I'm really not sure they will look like I want. The picture in the guys auction is a little cloudy or fuzzy and you really can't appreciate the size of the rings and how they will mount until you have them in your hands...

I'd be glad to give them to you if you want them.

Look at this ebay auction #: 110366013809

These are the ones I bought.

Let me know.

I added a set of the Speedhut Porsche custom gauge glow dials. This kit is no longer being made for the 968 model but thought I would share. This did a lot to update the dash but the only problem was that the needle's where not visible at night. I have been looking for a solution for the gauge faces for quite some time without much luck. The LED replacement kits tend to glare or reflect light back onto the plastic. So, I will continue to look.

Biotechee,

Finally mounted the rings. I put them onto the gauge face with 3M black weatherstrip adhesive with 4 very small dabs.
The look when mounted on the cluster housing seemed too big for my taste, this way they are masked by the cluster and are about half the size.

Looks good Brian!

Still not sure if I ever want to do them, but I certainly do not dislike them. I bet they definitely look good with a silver car!
