Desperately seeking sendor .....
#1

Hi troops, I've just fallen foul of the snail's pace burocrazy that is the French car registration system.  Some months back I applied for "collector status" because my 968 is now over 30.  A significant benefit of this is that emissions are no longer tested, and the testing interval expands to every 5 years instead of every 2 years.

Anyway, status quo endured and my car was tested at the two year interval and just failed its emissions  :whine:

Looking underneath I see no sensor, and on further reading discover that's okay, the engine management just runs a little richer.  Again, no problem when one is living in the Middle East .... I'm not sure I saw an emissions test in the dozen years I was there.

So now if France the cat's out of the bag (I just had to get that one in    ) and I'm probably up for a new convertor.

But before I do I thought I'd try installing the oxygen/lambda sensor ..... but where??  I've had a look at threads here/other fora but the nearest I've found is S2 wiring.

PLEASE CAN ANYONE SHOW ME WHERE THE SENSOR WIRING ENTERS THE LOOM??  Here's what I'm working with ......

The bung appears to be in decent condition; but of course it may shatter under stress.

I thought this was the loom entry point (black sleeve with grey stripe) but it turned out to be the cam position (I think).

Any advice/direction appreciated.

Have a good weekend,

Robo

The O2 sensor is mounted in the exhaust just behind the exhaust manifold , follow the wire , it wil go up and connect to the wiringloom behind inlet manifold just in front of the firewal .

Thanks for getting back to me Olaf ..... could you take a photo of where your wires join into the loom please?  I have no wires to follow as there is no sender installed. Many thanks .....

When I get home today, I’ll check if I have enough clearance under the car to take a photo .  If not I do have a hydraulic jack I could try , but the car’s ride height was significantly lowered , so I don’t know if the jack will fit under it ..but will try .

Had to stop by the house about half hour ago , so looked under the car .  No chance I have enough clearance to even see where the wires go into , and the jack won’t fit .   Sorry , hopefully someone else who can get the car lifted a bit more can post a photo .

Thanks Dan. I don't need the shot of the sender though seeing the wires going back up could be helpful. Somehow I need a shot of where it disappears down the rear area of the engine. I was talking to Martin yesterday who thinks all 968s were shipped with the sender in place, and I can see what looks like the plug clipped into the white plastic retainer at the rear of the engine ... so I suspect I'm going to find some loose wires just dangling down the back!

Actually guys don't worry about it for now. I know something is attached where the sender plug should be, I need to follow those wires to see who's done what. Thanks.

Ah, I misunderstood the location for the wires trace you were seeking .      Sad
