Design 1 Racing inventory resolved.
#21

Now now, don't you suppose people might say things about us and 20year old cars? Lol

I have no idea what I just saw, but it's five minutes of my life I'll never get back.

At least one American snuck into the middle of the bunch.

as some of you are painfully aware, i ran out of everything AGAIN. i did not expect quite the response i got when i put up a couple of specials, and of course i fell right into the spring rush of everybody else trying to get stuff done.

most everything will be back in stock this week, and shipping out all backorders the minute everything comes in.

i apologize for the delay. it's really hard to walk the line between not having a ton of stuff on the shelf, and not running out of things. i haven't quite figured that one out yet.

I believe the Japanese are noted for their lean just in time inventory system. Perhaps a trip to Japan with Ayn might be of some value! Lol

Course there's radiation. Perhaps a good book or Tama could give you a good off the shelf software!

lol - as long as they could predict the swings in demand and the delays in production. the problem is that things are somewhat unpredictable. sometimes i get stuff made quickly, and other times it takes a while. it varies from vendor to vendor too.

i'm guessing that things are winding down anyway though, so it may not be a problem at all for long.

I've written a few Kanban card systems for inventory management. They take into account lead times from vendors, usage patterns, and restocking points. But they won't save your bacon if you run a special with nothing on the shelf

I mean, I'm good, but I'm not *that* good.

lol - yeah - i should have pulled the special when i ran out, but since i said i'd run it for a fixed period, i didn't want to back up from that, even though i did say "while supplies last".

i'm clearly not a very good businessman when i pass up the opportunity to raise a price.

One might argue that if you were a good businessman you would either do it differently or not at all! Thankfully for us you do it the way you choose to do it.

caster braces, firewall braces, short shift kits, and heat shields will be shipping monday, unless they were also on an order with something else that has not come in yet (strut tower braces and tensioners). those should be in any day now.

i got so many orders on caster braces that i already have to do another run. dang it!

Bob I sent Design 1 an email the other day re the SC kit. If you could not reply because there was a particularly tight cork in a bottle of lovely wine you were having a tussle with, then I understand completely. Otherwise it is totally reprehensible! Please note I do not mention that you might have been out driving your car ha ha!

re: SC - i got the email. haven't had a chance to respond yet. will do that today.

re: heat shield. they got stuck in with a box of stuff that went to the powdercoater and got shot black. i need to have them blasted off because the powdercoating won't hold up to the heat. should only be a day or two and they'll be ready to go.
