Local used high-end European dealer has everything listed seemingly stupid high. But so many people buy cars like this on emotion alone it would be foolish not to. I know that the real price is much lower if I were interested and asked a few questions.
My rule: Never begrudge a man his profit, and if it is high at the expense of uninformed and impulsive consumers, then that is just Darwin at work. Dealers should be honest, they don't have to be fair. There is a difference. Now, if the car is in bad condition and they are hiding that, then that is a completely different issue.

In contrast to that one which seems ridiculously high, this seems like a good value:
Porsche 944 Turbo - $6800

163K mi but apparently in very good condition, a 10 minute drive from me if anyone is interested, I'd be happy to go check it out for you.

Ralph,
So well put. We've got a more than a few places like that around the Metro DC, NoVa, and MD areas as well. True, making a profit is one thing; fraudulent business deals is another.
I agree that it is bad business but, shouldn't a buyer do his home work before such a purchase?
I really have no pitty for an uneducated buyer in todays world.
It only takes 3 mins to check the book value.
Smokie...that's true too, but I think Ralph and I are are talking more about people who KNOW there's something wrong with a car and don't disclose it while trying to take advantage of an un-educated buyer because of the name badge on the car.

That seems kind of high, would you accept $67,500 (see an educated buyer knows that the seller has built in 10% for negotiation)?
