D1R Aftermath
#1

OK, I succumbed. I've got a D1R supercharger; I've got a D1R splitter; I've got other D1R must haves.

Now what the heck do I do with all this stuff I took off????????? <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/whine.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

I hear you. In my case, it's not so much D1R stuff (although that is something of a factor), it's the track car conversion that has my room piled full of stuff I've taken off my car, including two complete sets of headlights and all their associated hardware, two complete fog lights, a cruise control module, a stock oil cooler and shroud, a power steering cooling loop (RS Barns' dual oil kit requires converting to a 951 PS cooler), front bumper bar and shocks, etc. As these cars age and a growing number of people either extensively modify them, or turn them into track cars, I'm afraid there's going to be a glut of various 968 parts on the market.

Edit: Oh, and how can I forget a complete set of original battery cables. Not much of a market for those outside of the pyromaniac crowd, I wouldn't imagine...

I would like to know if parting with any of your...parts is possible?

Is that a power steering tensioner?

I dunno. If I were you I'd sell them. I see at least three bits there that I could use :-)

I believe the tensioner in Lear's picture is an AC tensioner. However, I've replaced my power steering tensioner with a D1R unit, so if I can find my old tensioner, I'd be glad to sell it to you for a very nominal price. However, if you're not in a hurry, I'm not sure I'm going to keep my power steering, since the car's primary purpose will be as a track car, and I've taken close to 100 lbs off the front end, so I think I may be able to do without the PS. Once I get it running (no telling when that may be - if all goes well, maybe a few weeks), I'm going to try removing the PS belt and seeing how it feels. If I'm OK with it, I'll try to sell my D1R PS belt tensioner, which is much nicer than the original, and it will be essentially brand new.

Everything in my picture is for sale. I think I'll post a picture of all the extra engine parts I've got too. If they can find a worthwhile home doing something besides collecting dust, it would be great. Just PM me,

I'm keeping my parts for now, but I understand the problem. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/smile.png" class="smilie" alt="" />

Sell it on "the other" site that doesn't belive you can get more out of a 968 and that D1R is a shady character...or just put it on E-bay and they'll scoop it right up...LOL.

I'm interested in the shroud that fits the front of the engine bay, if you are interested in selling it.

Oddly enough I'm keeping everything I have taken out of the car - SC bits, read seats, spare tire, steering wheel etc. I'm not one of those "keep it all original" guys, obviously, but I somehow feel my modified ownership is somewhat justified if I have all the bits to put it back to stock. Warped I know.
