A co-worker of mine just added one of these
license plates to the front of his Lotus.
They look great and you can custom order the number to match your rear plate.
I'm sure some anal retentive Barney Fife may still pull you over but most won't bother if the numbers match. What do think??

I much prefer the no front plate look and have run my vehicles that way for 15 years +. I have received a couple of tickets for it over the years but it was usually in lieu of something much worse. Of course one of those tickets was over near you on route 100

A few years ago, when I first bought my car, tried driving it without the front plate for about two months. I was pulled over six times (4 warnings, 2 tickets)!!
I don't know if because of the car or if it was DWB but I decided it was not worth the hassle. One of the tickets I got was on Route 100 as well and it was for $120.00
Here in Maryland they seem to enjoy stopping guys in sports cars. My co-worker who owns the Lotus was stopped once before he went for the euro looking plate.

Here in Wisconsin they require a front plate, I never got stopped in the 924 for no plate but did several time in my classic Mopar, on the 968 I'm paranoid so put in on.
Anyway; my neighbor has a 911 with one of those fake Euro plates that match his rear and has never been stopped for it.

[quote name='ds968' date='Oct 7 2006, 06:36 PM']I have been driving with a "German" front plate for over 20 years ( starting with the 944 and continuing with the 968 ). Both cars daily drivers so lots of opportunities to be stopped. Was pulled over twice, one warning and one ticket which did not cost anything but had to be signed off by police after correction of the violation. Of course, minutes after I "corrected" it and had the police validate the citation, I promptly removed the CA plate and UN-corrected it right back with the german plate It's been many many years since then, and knock on wood, it looks like the police in CA have found better things to do with their time.
From what I can see at least 1/2 of the sports cars around here no front plate, so
I'm in a good company of hardened criminals
