Crazy traffic lately
#1

I just wanted to take notice of how much of an increase in traffic we have had over the last few months. Posting is almost doubled. New members are coming in like never before. It's insanely difficult to keep up. There are a LOT of threads I can't even find the time to read, let alone participate in.

I am gratified that this has become the predominant site for the Porsche 968. The membership is what makes it such. We have managed to build an excellent group of very active members, and at the same time have not been burdened by miscreants who have nothing to contribute and seem to live only to foster negativity.

I love that we have managed to soar above any other site, and really take the lead. This is the place to be for the 968 Enthusiast. Pretty much everybody knows it. The diversity here, and the freedom to openly exchange ideas and thoughts, without repercussion or criticism like you would see on other sites, is exactly why it has gone leaps and bounds beyond any other site. The members continue to amaze me with the level of civility displayed in discussions that on other sites would quickly turn into a flame war. It clearly shows a level of intellect and maturity far and above that exhibited elsewhere. Congratulations on that. It is a rarity in today's cyber culture.

I look forward to seeing more new members, making more new friends, and continuing to build and expand the best resource on the planet for the 968 enthusiast. This has been the best year yet for 968Forums, and I look forward to even better times.

Doubling is almost beyond belief. All this new names are tough to keep up with. I don't envy you administrators and this increased workload. However it is what makes it such a great site with cool things to do, see, say and learn. Besides who wouldn't want to hear the words intellect and maturity used in the same sentence about themselves? Lol Great work guys!

i know. while at paso robles, i couldn't believe the activity level.

so, i actually had to check the stats. there were over 6500 posts since the first of the year, compared with less than 5000 in the previous 4 months. ok - maybe not doubled, but one heck of a jump. the real news is the nearly 150 new members since jan 1. that's HUGE!!!

being the best is great! it is a bit of work though. thankfully we have no troublesome members, clearly unhappy with their life, like you find elsewhere. it's absolutely amazing at how things have sifted themselves. pretty cool actually.

again, it's all because of the members.

And it's not just the quantity of the posts - I've noticed a quantum leap forward in the level of technical knowledge available on this site thanks to the recent addition of guys like MB968, vliegwielolaf1234, 9ines, and Krago, to name just a few. The combination of fun and respectful dialog on any range of topics, and the knowledge that the answer to just about any technical question about these (or just about any other!) cars is just a click away makes this site really special and unique.

I noticed the increase as well. There was a time where I could read through all of the new post in a day. Now I'm greeted with 4 pages of unread post every time I log in. A bit overwhelming.

As for the members- This is by far the best group of forum members I have ever interacted with. Their/our courtesy and mutual respect for each other sets the tone for the new members.

Keep up the good work everyone. So. i've read and responded to one post. Now, I'm going to get my morning coffee.

EFFICIENT FORUM READING TACTIC:

- Select "Unread posts" on left menu, select "View New Posts" if necessary.

- In list of new posts, hold down Ctrl key and click the circle or star shape to the left of *each* topic in turn to open it, positioned at the first unread or new post in that thread, and in a new tab.

Enjoy.

Sharing all of the same sentiments mentioned by everyone else on this thread, methinks a virtual group hug is in order here :-) :-). Fantastic forum, every aspect of it and in every respect.

Congrats and thanks to the owners/admins for managing the site and the growth so well.

Just want others to know, that us "non technical" guys DO APPRECIATE the technical posts/advice that others post. I read EVERYTHING, just so I can make use of whatever info may be relevant to my 968. The technical tips have come in handy when dealing with mechanics, alignment shops, etc, because they realize that they cannot "pull the wool over my eyes" when you talk "technical talk"! I feel this site has SAVED me some serious $$$. So... keep it up guys!

listen here, unless flash grows boobs ( well, bigger they they already are now ..;-) ), and a " v " which everyone knows can only be grown when you drive a Boxster, I'm not interested in his hugs , no matter how famous they may be. ;-)

For the record, even if (not unless) Bob grows some boobs and a "v", I'm not hugging him,... On second thought, ESPECIALLY if Bob grows some boobs and a "v",... I know Bob will agree.

How did a topic about "traffic growth" turn into one about Bob's "boob growth"???

Oh ya... it all started with someone (ds968) talking about hugs, which us North Americans are somewhat phobic about, unless there are a pair of boobs to cushion the impact!

In latino countries (well, at least in Brazil), males great each other with a sideways hug and some good hard back slapping, which is does not undermine ones masculinity...

Flash has been curiously quiet here. I suppose the increase in traffic has bogged him down. If one is in the recovery field you get to hug anyone. Although I agree that boobs make for a better hug! Langley watch tv one time and perhaps you will rethink North Americans and hugs. Course if your Italian one hugs and depending on your ranking either gives or receives a respectful peck on the check. Boobs not included.

DS, why are you looking at Flash's boobs? Perhaps I misread you! Lol

What, no I meant to write that being " flashed boobs " is conducive to hugs , but the autocorrect feature twisted that all around in my post.
