Correlation or Coincidence
#1

So, I got my new goodie in the mail yesterday and installed it practically immediately and took her out. Only went to the store and back (3 miles round-trip). Everything was fine. Went to work today in her (45 miles r-t)... again fine. Went to go the store this evening and got stuck at a train crossing. as I it finished passing and I went to put her in gear, I noticed that the temp gauge was up the top white line (call it 75%?). It calmed down as I got in motion, as expected, but when I got home I let her idle, and it began to creep back up. Also, noticed a small (4-8 oz.) puddle of coolant on the floor.

Would the extra air cause this? Seems far fetched to me, but.... I just had my temp gauge replaced in March, checked my fluids two weeks ago and when I lifted the hood just now, I could see coolant in the top of the res.... perhaps topped it off TOO much? ANyone have a similar experience/have advice?

Thanks in advance!

no chance extra air would cause that

Yeah, Like I said... figured a LONG shot... Once the engine cooled, the res was low and it took about .25 gal. to get it up. at this point I'm guessing just a coincidence. Taking a container of coolant to work tomorrow though!

Thanks, bob!

+ 1 no chance. however, weird question : was it raining ? the reason I ask the weird qestion is that my temp gauge raises by one whole marker when it rains. the 944 did exactly the same thing. moisture seems to affect some of our ( mine anyway ) cars that wayi but f that was not the case, who knows what else it is, definitely not the air filter though.. just coincidence IMO

Not raining directly on me, but scattered storms ALL around... def. atmospheric pressure wierdness going on... like, "I wonder if we're gonna get a tornado?" wierd.... but again, air (air pressure) wouldn't do it. About to take it out again when I get sign off in a couple minutes. Wish me luck!
