Correct Pressure Plate for 968
#1

I'm looking for a new pressure plate. Anyone have one they're looking to sell?

New ones are available, but the clamping force is too high and not needed for 968s.

Hey John, I have the one that came off of my 968 when I replaced the clutch and pressure plate 2 years ago. It worked fine, and feels exactly like the new one that I had installed.

I picked my new one up from EBS Racing, they were one of the only places that knew the difference between the green strip (incorrect) and the blue strip (correct) pressure plates.

Matt,

Thx for pointing me towards EBS. I hadn't tried them or known of them.

The dude I discussed the pressure plate said he will call me back after he tries to find out about the clamping force of the one they sell for 968s.

I appreciate your generous offer about your PP, but it's probably equal condition to mine. Plan B is to use my old one, so it looks like I won't need yours.

I've had two PPs in my hands in the last couple months. No green or blue stripe on either of them. But, unless it's old stock, the color can be deceiving. Check this out: http://exclusive.multibriefs.com/content...automotive

I hadn't been on the forums for quite a while and back in April when I returned I heard that RS Barn was closing. I had the clutch parts in my shopping cart, but their website wouldn't take my $$. I called Pete and he said to call back in a couple weeks, but his phone was disconnected and the website is offline now...

OK. Thanks vliegwielolaf1234.

The number on the one I have is 147 612 SAX 10 14. So, I still don't know what I have...

Plan A: install new PP and it works like it should

Plan B: new PP doesn't work, so I put the old one back on with new friction disk and a resurfaced PP or at least scuffed-up

The nbr's on your old plate are of no use , they are not made anymore , unless it is a old stock pressure plate  , there is no match in the nbr's

I had the same problem when i needed a new clutch , i got one wich they listed as  correct online , but it was not , very hard pedal , so i went to my old trusted supplier , and told him the problem , they said this is the one you need , right clamping force etc , and they where right .

They have them in stock , but sending it to the usa , is expensive

Thanks again vliegwielolaf1234.

The new one I just bought has the number 147 612 SAX 10 14 on the black fingers.

I'd rather know I have the correct parts and do not want to install the clutch twice.

Do you have contact information for your supplier? (I think any extra cost could be worth it)

info@alpo.nl

Mail them with your problem , ad a picture of the new clutch you allready bought , give them all the nbr's on the plate if they are not visible .

They will let you know if it is oke to use , or if it is the wrong one .

ALPO – Parts for Porsche – Onafhankelijke specialisten in Porsche onderdelen

website in dutch , they have no online store , call or mail .

In my case the send me the parts , and i pay them after they have arrived , overseas will be differrent , but just to give you an idea .

tejon007,

you can also try them using WhatsApp +31 6 8210 5510, you can send them the picture and they probably send you the details with pics too.

They really are great in knowledge and assisting customers.

@vliegwielolaf1234, how much did yours cost more or less?

Regards,

Jack.

Anyone know a source for green (proper) pressure plates now (2023)? I haven't been able to find one and the prices--even for the wrong one--are crazy if you get the Porsche-branded one. I am afraid I will have to use the Sachs kit since its the only thing even remotely affordable.

Don't know where to get one.

Best wishes for a successful search. If you do find a source, please let us know.

I'm giving up; I'll just get the Sachs one and live with the pedal force.

I wonder if a blue plate special could be modified for lower clamping by carefully removing a symmetrical set of the spring fingers. It obviously wouldn't be ideal but it *might* possibly work! I don't think I want to be the first one to try it though.

Don't think modifying the fingers is a viable option, could also mess up the balance. Maybe use your old/used one with a new friction disk?

Here's another option: https://www.pelicanparts.com/More_Info/S...atch%20All

I have one that I replaced a few years ago. It was fine, the disc had just worn out so I did the whole thing.
