Convertible Top Manual
#1

I've heard people reference two different convertible top manuals but haven't found a link to these manuals. Can someone help point me in the right direction? I am a new 968 owner after purchasing a 95 cabrio that had a broken top bow (got a really good price.)

Hello all. I have searched the forum for quite some time now and I can only find this Manual concerning the cab top. http://www.968forums.com/Miscfileupload/968CabTop.pdf . Is this the only manual I need or is there another manual on this site for the cabriolet top? I have made a huge mistake and hired a local shop to do the job for me but I have quickly learned that they do no have the skill set to perform the task of replacing my top. I plan to live with what they call finished for awhile until I find a shop to perform the job properly. I cannot begin to explain how horrible I feel about seeing my new top installed so poorly. If I have too I will drive the car from Texas to California to get the job done right. Any help would be much appreciated. I hope to have my car back later next week.

I know a great top guy here in Alameda, California. Did great jobs on my old Miata and my '93 968 Cab.

I got a great job done here in Upstate NY - I think there will be good (and bad) shops just about anywhere, it's a matter of getting recommendations and asking to see their work. You shouldn't have to drive all the way to California!

There's nothing special about these tops compared to others I've seen. I did one on my own (my daughter's Chrysler Sebring) and they take an amazing amount of manual labor and visual alignment, as there's no "Tab A" to put in "Slot B". That one was held on by glue and staples driven into plastic runners!

Thanks for the input guys. I let the guy try again on the top install and he really pulled a rabbit out of his hat. I picked up the car today and it looks awesome.Sometimes you just have to be patient and give a guy a second shot. My original question was concerning info on this site about the top.. I thought that I had seen posted somewhere here that there were two different online manuals about the convertible top. I have the one in my original post and would like to know where the second one might be.If it exists at all. Thanks for the help. So glad to have my car back.

I too am looking for the top manual, I am pretty sure it is the WDK 495-721 service manual from Porsche. I am in the process of replacing my top myself. It is quite a job. Mine has had a broken bow already(<acronym title='previous owner'>PO</acronym>) had it welded. The top is manual now, and I plan on leaving it that way.
