cab top water repelant treatment
#1

Time to treat the cab top again after the Seattle rain stops.

Last time that I did it the directions said to use masking tape around the rear window to keep the solution off of it. The treatment liquid dissolved the glue in the tape and made extra clean-up work. Do not want to go there again.

Any recommendation's?

Brian, just a guess but perhaps plasticized tapes like electrical tape would hold up better. You could do some preliminary bench testing beforehand.

gryphon,

Good idea. Do you have a favorite treatment product?

Hmm I use Raggtop and have never had a problem with it dissolving the glue on my tape.

Brian, I don't treat my top since I live in Arizona, where sun is more of a problem than rain.

Porsche dealers sell a spray that I've used on my Boxster. But beware, you need to tape off the car - you can't get the spray anywhere else. I've heard Raggtop is easier and works better, but I've never used it.
