Complete loss
#1

Just had a nightmare experience that isn't over yet.
Both the passenger rear cubby and the spare tire location on my 1992 Coupe filled with water over the last week.
We've had heavy rain. Power amp and crossover live in the cubby, both sides, so one is fine.
Subs live in the spare tire area, now they can swim. So subs were new, last year $800,
power amps $?, don't know, its the alpine system, matching deck, 6 disc changer in the glove box, etc.
Before I knew this was a problem I had turned on the stereo and got nothing, explored why when I got home.
That's when I found the water, the spare tire location was a surprise for today when I got it in the air to see what was going on.
Anyway, on the other side (dry) the tube from the hatch connects to a rubber grommet of some sort.
On the wet side that seems missing, it just pushes into the hole, but it had come out. Now back in.
Question, does that hose connect to anything or does it just drain down to a hopefully not plugged opening?
I would like to sort this out for good, as I may have lost thousands here.
Now talking to my insurance to see if my comprehensive will cover anything.
Hope you are all having a better day than this.

Many insurance restoration firms have specialised drying gear for electronics. The cost is normally less than 25% of replacement. It works very well on computers so it may work on amps, etc. Subs may only require a good drying. I would call one of them asap.

If its the white stiff hoses that come from the hatch lock drains (L+R) they just go into the grommet and drip underneath the car. I had the same wet spare tire incident in my 944 because of those drains and the fact that the rubber plug at the bottom the spare tire well had been replaced by the PO with tape. Luckily no electronics andywhere in sight.

I also had this happen on the right side, where I kept my spare DME, vacuum heater valve, lamps and other emergency goodies. To make things worse, the water turned to ice before I discovered the problem.
Not as bad as your loss, but still no fun.

I found that my tube went through the hole, but water was leaking around the black grommet at the top. I cleaned the grommet off and used black silicon sealant and a black rubber disk to seal the whole thing off...been dry ever since. All of the water runs down and away if you use your car as a DD anyway.

Thanks guys.
I got my subs out, one completely dry! Other some damp spots but I think I dodged a bullet.
I think they will work. So at this point I may just have to replace the amp.
Here's hoping.

I used to have major flooding in the trunk of my cab as the result of the drains clogging up. I solved the problem by clearing them out, and then carefully gluing trimmed kitchen sink faucet strainers over the entry opening to the drain. Water passes through without a problem, but the mesh is so fine that nothing else gets through. I've never had a trunk flood since I did this. I've never looked at the drains on a coupe, but I'd bet that a similar approach could be worked out. I'm about to do something like this for the front drains - by the battery, and by the fuse box.

Update
Things are dry, got the hose sorted out.
Insurance gave me $1,000 after I pay the first 500
So, 2 new Alpine power amps, one to drive the two 10 inch subs
and one to drive the rest of the system. Also, new deck Alpine IDA X305
that is compatible with my 6 disk old Alpine CD changer.
Wow, sounds good, maybe some new door speakers as well as there is a
problem with a couple.
So then I purchased an i pod touch to just go over the top, and have all my songs all the time.
