[quote name='eposos' date='May 18 2006, 10:24 AM']I called PCNA to verify the color of the '94 968 Im looking at....given the VIN they told me that the color is a Dark Sea Blue (Color code D3).
What's funny is that I checked online for other Porsches with this color and it looks nothing like it....the deep sea looks to be more of a dark navy. The 968 I'm looking at *seems* to be cobalt blue. The dealership where the car is located lists the color as
Purple (Amaranth Violet)....I'va attached a pic of the car in question.

If you like the color, then just buy it. Do not worry. The color will not make a difference for resale unless it was a really ugly color. Buy what you like.
Look to see if the car was re-painted. If it was, and that bothers you, step away. A repaint may effect value, but these are not collectors items, they are low price German sports cars and they will not appreciate in value. If you like it and can afford it, buy it and drive the hell out of it.
The price seems fine and a dark blue 968 coupe, manual tran is a good find, since most are red, most are cabs and many have tiptronic auto trans. The linen leather interior is cool, again, most are black or tan. Clean the carpets and get black mats and you are all set.
There is a nice white coupe with blue interior for sale in Detroit if you want the opposite color scheme.
Budget $2500 to $10,000 to make the car road/track worthy. The parts are silly expenive and so are the mechanics, but say you spend $10,000 (worst case) on top of the $12,000 price, you are still spending way less than a mint 911 of the same vintage and for the price of a Honda Civic you will be driving a sweet car.
Good luck!
