Good ideas, all. I'm gonna have to endorse the one known simply as "the Wedge" - (not associated with U2's guitarist, "the Edge"). My wedge has survived two Porsches and is removable and dishwasher safe. Passengers don't like it much though, but a Dunkin Donuts large coffee cup seems to have been made for it.
