Club Sport in US?
#1

My recollection is that the Club Sport was never actually available in the US. Is that correct and if so, has anyone ever imported a real one? Is it possible to federalize a ROW car?

Why do I ask? A serious collector asked me about them this morning. He said he had been looking without success. I was just sort of thrilled he was expressing interest in my little-old-Porsche.

They were never officially imported. A handful have come across and I only know of 2 which were licensed for street use.

Open your wallet wide enough, and anything is possible.

I think the term 'serious collector' speaks for itself.

Club Sports were too low to be DOT approved. I can remember a guy over on 968net was importing one. I think you can get one in as a race car only.

It can be done. We had a member of the board who had just done in in the last 4 or 5 years. He lived in Europe and brought the car over when he and his family moved to the US with his job. He's since moved back to Europe (but I believe left the car in the US). I'm blocking on his name, but he lived in the NC area because we got together for a few local events.

He had to ship it back to the west coast for the emmission work and paper pushing to be completed. I believe he spent about 8-10k (and many months) to get all the work done which enabled it to be licensed properly.

I love how spartan the CS is!

I believe a rennlister is selling their 968CS right now.

Search under race cars.

A beautiful Riviara Blue one to boot.

That's Rich Tillotson and my old Club Sport, I brought it over, I built it, drove it for a year then foolishly sold it and have regretted it ever since. Odd since I spoke to Rich last week and he never mentioned selling it, said he was having a ball driving it. Have to call him again I guess.
