Motochron 968 Speedo Dial Watch
#41

Rap,

I like your watch MUCH better than the one I posted, fewer complications, better layout and the date at 4:00 is way cool...wear it in good health!

I can't see the possibility of getting the Motochron off the ground but if you do I'm in...

Thank you, coming from a watch aficionado such as yourself that is indeed high praise. We were hoping as one of our fearless leaders of the Forum, and knowing the complexity of accomplishing this endevour that you would rise to the occasion and lead this baby! Lol

I already have a watch for every day of the week, and then a handful more in addition to those..so I was thinking there is no point to own yet another one, but by the same token one could argue that one more just completes the insanity...err, I mean obsession..err, I mean compulsiveness..err, I meant to say collection ..so depending on the design, dimensions, I MIGHT be interested , but I would have to see precisely what it will look like before I join in on a potential group buy..

Jay, I think that's just a small sampling of not only the interest in the watch but the support you have in running this project. DS do collections ever really get completed. With watches I think it may only depend on your pocketbook. Price isn't the factor but rather if you like the look. Anyway that's it for me. My buddy tried to get me to buy a 1930 Breitling. Unfortunately this new garage is as, that famous American Ross Perot once said, creating that great sucking sound these days. Course a 968 watch might be too tempting to pass up!

My guess is we will never be able to reach the number required. I'll monitor this thread from time to time, but I wouldn't bother monochron unless I though we were anywhere near close enough....unless someone wins the lottery and want to buy 80 of these suckers.

I'm in with original motochron design, or another if we can't get Motochron to do it

I sent them an email but got no response. Jay perhaps a person of your stature might have a better chance! Perhaps the forum could purchase them and sell them for a slight markup to cover costs. Is the bogey number really 80? How many do we have now and what's the most people are willing to pay. Jay and I are watch hounds so we are not the ones who should weigh in with the top price. Speak up guys!!

I believe the quantity is 100, there are easily 20 who would plunk down their dollars here..the rest are "unknown"....

Dying to hear how they respond.

Update - if the Laco Valencia Time Center watch shown in this thread is the one, then I am in. I have a Porsche IWC watch already but would love to have a 968 watch. I just dropped a lot of money on the 3 Starter resin models so I guess I can also spring for a 968 watch. If LACO will do 100 watches for $50,000 delivered to Jay in Newtown, that would be great! If they insist on $75,000 it will be harder to get 100 buyers but I think it could be done.

Don,

I'm pretty sure that Laco Valencia Time Center and Motochron are not the same complany. I could be wrong of course.

More fun to have unobtainium watch or factory replica...I don't think this will ever go anywhere, but would be happily surprised if it did.

I have my eye on a couple of other vintage watches <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/smile.png" class="smilie" alt="" />

sorry, nothing that has the word "forums" on any watch I'd wear, nor anything that has seiko or bulova, or similar walmart-caliber brand on it.. actually the design of last one of the three pictured above is not bad, if it can produced by a quality maker , but if we want to go cheap ( $ 55-$175 ) maybe we could just order a bunch and wear them only at 968 gatherings / fun runs.. ??

Could we agree on 968. Again the count is the first starting point.
