the yellow cab has 118,000 miles and a salvage title?  While neither a deal breakers, I would expect to see a pricetag at about half of what he is currently getting.

I suspect shill bidding on the salvage title Speed Yellow cab.

I'm guessing it's going to end "sold" and a few days later will be re-listed "due to non-paying bidder." While it's not getting real people to pay that amount this time around, seeing it end that high could convince some people to bid more than they would have to get it "the second time around."

 

As for the 30k mile cab - That's been listed for ~2-3 months now...ambitious price and I hope they get it...but I don't think the purple 4k coupe got that price, and the other red coupe with 15k miles a year and a half ago only went for $16k..cabs don't tend to sell for more than coupes from what i've seen. has the market really changed that much to command more than double now for one of the most common colors?

Wait till they try to insure the one with the salvage title. I had two insurance companies tell me no when I was looking.

 

I have dealt with the guy from Montana, although it was a few years ago. He knows a few things about the cars, and he did tell me some of the important things to look for when purchasing a 968, but the cars he was selling at the time were way high and out of my price range. Seems they still are.

regardless of what's wrong with the car, and i think we can skip all of that, the pricing is the point.  prices are going up. even if the yellow car is a dubious sale, it pushes the aggregate sales point up.  groups like haggerty, nada, kelly, and the like look only at sales records, legitimate or not, and adjust values based on those.

Have to remember that ( right or wrong ) yellow 968s typically command a lot more money that any other color ..at least in asking price, no idea about the actual sales figures.

The Yellow cab guy is going to have a rude awakening when it comes to the smog. According to the DMV, the seller is responsible for the smog, regardless of any "as is" verbiage. Sure you can still buy a car without smog but you have the right to go after the seller and will probably win...collecting is another matter though.

CS over here with low mileage are now selling for 35K British Pounds, 55K USD.

 

944 Turbo with low mileage and good history 31K USD

 

All the FE Porsche's with good history and low mileage are on the up, even the rusty ones are becoming worth saving.

your ordinary coupe is now rarer than the sports and CS combined but are worth far less, for no apparent reason other than media hype.

 

the high values of the sports and CS will push up Coupes, as Coupes will get butchered to make lookalike CS with the owners hoping to make a few bucks

Mine is under 50K miliage and is still for sale - I was asking $25K or best offer over $20K.  I have at least $17 invested in the car maybe more.

It is well sorted and has only a few minor defects that do not really detract from the car. If anyone is interested message me....

Wishful thinking. I don't think I'll live to see any high values on these cars. What I have seen is a sharp increase in the prices of the 944 Turbo. In my area, it seems the 944 NA cars are losing value.
